  Molly's POV
I look down at the things that came out of the container. Alex takes the metal and tosses it aside for now. The artifacts confuse me. Papers, jewels, and necklaces. I take a paper and carefully put the rest of the objects aside. The second the paper is open, I begin to read the text to myself.

If you are reading this, then you are the descendant to an angel who has done great things for the world. Do not share this information with anyone; it is classified, and when revealed, these discoveries can put you in great danger.

I suck in a quick breath and glance up at Alex before looking back down at the thick paper.

It has been said that for some descendants, someone they knew had been partially immortal as well. They could vary in any creature from an angel to a demon. But if they happen to be a demon, stay away from them. You will know.
In this container, you can find anything you need- swords, maps, disguises, defense mechanisms.

I glance over at the mismatched variety of items. There's a defensive system somewhere in there?

You may even get a companion- whether it be animal or another creature.
Since you have read this note, you should have a basic idea of how an angel should act. Wait for escorts to bring you to an opportunity- if you take it, you could be granted full immortality.

I give Alex the note so that he can read it and he furrows his eyebrows. "What is this supposed to mean?" he asks.
"Alex, there is no way I'm an angel," I point out, the reality of the situation sinking in.
They think I'm an angel.

Alex gives the note back to me- he says he can't read it, so I read it out loud to him quickly- and I roll it up before shoving it into the metal container. I pick up the next piece of paper and open it. It's a map. I look at it closely. I can't tell whether or not it is our village. I hand it to Alex and ask him to check it. He agrees to and I pick up a necklace with a small sapphire pendant. I look at it with confusion; I have no clue why it is here. I gently rub the gem between my thumb and forefinger and it begins to glow. I jump a little and drop the necklace, but it continues to glow. Finally, it abruptly stops and the gem opens. A tiny wolf pup crawls out, and the pendant closes. I stare at the little pup as it grows to a normal size. It's still small, of course, but it has grown.

I look up and Alex and I make eye contact. Then I glance back down at the wolf, who stares at me with frightened, intelligent eyes. I return my gaze to Alex.
"I don't know what to do with it," I whisper, trying not to cringe as I call the wolf "it." I think of wolves as my own species- obviously, considering the fact that I'm half wolf- and calling the little pup an "it" is like calling my own brother the same thing.
The wolf begins to tremble, and my heart melts. I crouch down and hold out a hand. Its nose twitches as it takes a tentative step closer and sniffs my hand. It speaks in a quiet voice.
"You're one of my kind," it squeaks.
"I am," I say softly. "I'm Molly. What's your name?"
"Starlight," she replies. I smile at the little girl.
"Are you only a wolf, or are you part human, too?" I ask.
"I'm only a wolf," she answers. "If I were a human, I don't think I'd have this form yet."
I smile. "You've got a point." She steps closer and wags her tail hopefully. I gently reach my hand out a bit more and scratch her behind the ear, where I know wolves absolutely love to be scratched. I look up at Alex and see him smiling at me. I smile back and return my gaze to little Starlight.

  Alex's POV
I watch Molly as she attempts to soothe the little wolf. I grin in spite of myself and she looks up, returning my smile. She looks back down at Starlight- I heard her name- and starts murmuring reassuring words to her. I can't help but notice how the wolf comes even closer to her with each word.
Starlight looks up at me. "Who's this?" she asks quietly.
"That's my friend, Alex," Molly replies, following the pup's gaze. I crouch down to her level and hold out a gentle hand. She sniffs it carefully.
"Are you both part wolf?" Starlight asks, the fear starting to drain from her voice. I nod.
"Starlight, if you don't mind me asking, why are you here?" Molly asks softly. The wolf's eyes lift to her face.
"I'm your Angel companion," Starlight replies. Molly seems to stiffen.
"There must be a mistake," Molly murmurs. "I can't be an angel."
"Only someone with some form of at least semi-immortality can summon companions," Starlight points out. "I know you activated my pendant." There is a long stretch of silence before Starlight looks over at me. "Alex, you should try to summon one. I feel some type of aura around you as well." I bite the inside of my lip and shift my weight uncomfortably.
"It must just be because I'm a wolf," I say nervously. More than a wolf, I think.

One of my ancestors was one of the first people to be turned into a wolf; a science experiment had gone horribly wrong and people began to think like wolves, act like wolves, obtain wolf forms. The man who obtained their wolf form before any other volunteer is one of my ancestors, and legend has it that the Angels and Demons came together for an occasion to give him extra power to help him control the wolf instincts and traits- the power of flight. Because of this, exactly halfway through a descendant's nineteenth year of life, they acquire the ability to fly.
No one knows of my secret except for my mother, father, and sister. Molly doesn't even know.

"Alex," Molly says, waving a hand in front of my face and snapping me back to reality. I shake my head to clear my mind.
"Sorry, I was thinking," I reply.
"Can we check and see if you can summon a companion? Please?" Starlight begs in a small voice. I sigh and hold out my hand. Molly looks at me, sympathy filling her eyes, and drops a pendant into it. I look at the emerald gem blankly.
"Rub it between your thumb and index finger," Starlight instructs. I do as she says and the pendant slowly starts to glow- I anticipated this, but I desperately hoped it wouldn't happen. Now I watch as a wolf with black fur and striking blue eyes emerges from the pendant. It is similar in size to Starlight, but the similarities seem to stop there. The wolf is obviously a male. His eyes are an icy blue and his fur is as dark as the midnight sky.

My wolf reacts to me differently than Starlight did to Molly and I- he ventures closer and sniffs me. I hold out a hand and he nudges it with his nose.
"What's your name?" he asks. His voice is tough and soft at the same time, as if he's training to be strong.
  "I'm Alex," I answer.
"So you're my new companion," he says. He looks into my eyes and I instantly glance away. I don't know if he's challenging me by looking into my eyes like that. He snickers and I look back.
"I'm not challenging you," he reassures me. "I'm Thunder." I grin and do as Molly did with Starlight- I scratch him behind his ears. His face melts from serious to relaxed and he sighs. I chuckle.

"So, how do we get you guys back into your pendants?" Molly asks the pups.
"Just hold them out to us and say 'I need you no longer', and we'll just be put back into the gems," Thunder explains. Molly and I nod.

Starlight sniffs the air, her nose twitching. She suddenly lays her ears back in fear.
"I sense some sort of power," she squeaks. Thunder nods, agreeing that he feels it, too. Molly and I look around and I quickly return my gaze to Thunder.
"Should we put you guys back?" I ask. They nod somewhat fearfully. Molly and I hold out our pendants.
"I need you no longer," we say in unison, and the wolves seem to be sucked into the gems. I shove my pendant into my pocket and Molly starts putting all of her things back into the metal container.

I turn for a moment to make sure I didn't bring something that I would forget, and in the brief amount of time that I'm turned, I hear Molly shout in protest. I whip back around and only get a glance at her before something covers my head and darkness engulfs me. I feel myself being pulled to my feet and two hands holding my wrists behind my back. I can't pull myself away from them, and I have no clue where we're going.
I feel Molly's presence right next to me, but it is evident that she can't see, either. I hear her stumbling along the way. And as we walk, she's quietly murmuring to herself.
"I'm not an angel."

A/N: Hey guys! Well, that took me a long time! One time the app crashed and deleted half of what I'd just written... I was SO MAD... But I rewrote it so it works out!
I know what you may be thinking: "Mabel, in the summary, it says Molly found out she was an angel IN A VILLAGE, not because of family problems and metal containers or whatever." Yeah... about that... I kinda forgot. So she finds out she's an angel while she's with Alex, and she'll slowly realize it's true as she settles into the village. SO THERE YOU GO.
Also, sorry for the slow updates. I've been kinda busy lately. Thanks for understanding and reading my story!
