  Alex's POV
I look up to see a girl with fiery red hair and brown eyes. She smiles at Gavin, then turns to me. "I am Kennedy, your personal trainer," she says in a light voice. "You're Alex, right?" I nod. "Alright. I'm here to help you with your powers. How old are you?"
"Nineteen," I say, my voice coming out in a small whisper. "I turned nineteen a few months ago."
"So you'll be getting your powers soon," Kennedy says.
  "Yes," I reply.
She sighs. "It's more difficult to teach you how to use your powers when you don't have them yet. First off, do you use your wolf form frequently?"
  "Not really," I admit.
"If I were you, I'd get into the habit of doing that. It helps you to maintain your form after you get your flight powers. You know how to transform, right?"

I nod and change into my wolf form to show her.
"Aright," she says. "So, go into that form regularly. When I got my second form, it was hard to get out of my wolf body. I've suggested doing this, and most of my trainees have said that it helps."
"Thanks," I say, my voice a somewhat low growl because I'm still in my wolf body. I turn back into a human and sigh.

"Now," Kennedy continues, "when you do get your flight, you'll get wings. The way you use them is similar to the way angels use theirs. You'll have to just will them to appear." To demonstrate, she goes still for a moment. A pair of silver wings unfold from her back, and she smiles. "To fly, you just focus on flapping your wings. Navigation is about focusing on which way you want to go. After a while, it just comes as an involuntary action." She flutters her wings and flies above the ground, moving left and right a few times.

"Isn't there another power for wolf ancestors?" I ask as Kennedy floats back down.
"Yes," she replies. "There is a Dark Wolf transformation. But that is powered by fury, and you should only use that form in drastic situations. The power can completely overtake you, and it's very hard to get rid of."
"I see," I murmur. "Is that all we can do?"
"Basically, yes," Kennedy sighs. "That's all you need to know for now. I've heard about your intention to get out of here in less than six years. Maybe you can just do some combat training." I nod and start to unsheathes my sword when I see Molly sprint into the forest. An early break, I presume. I turn to Gavin and tell him I'm taking my break before dropping my sword back into its sheath and running after Molly.

I try to follow her quietly so I don't scare her, but her wolf hearing prevents me from doing so. She stops abruptly and whips around, her eyes slightly wide with fear. I stop in my tracks so that I don't slam into her and look into her eyes as she visibly relaxes.
  "You okay?" I ask.
"Yeah," she whispers before clearing her throat. "You never told me you were an Ancestor."
"I'm going to be honest with you," I mutter. "I was never intending to. It was dangerous for my family, for me, and for you. I didn't want anyone getting hurt. Some people would kill to have our extra powers."
"I know," she sighs, biting her bottom lip. "At least you knew you were-" She stops and coughs again. "Never mind."
"I'm sorry, Molly," I whisper. "You don't deserve any of this."
"Neither do you," she retorts. "And this isn't your fault."
"I feel like it is," I say. If I hadn't come to her house a few mornings ago, I don't think we would be in this situation.
A few mornings ago. It seems as if it's been so much longer than that.

"It isn't," she argues reassuringly. "Alex, if anything, it's my fault. I'm the one who opened the stupid container in the middle of a field, where we were in plain sight. It's my fault that you're here." Frustration begins to crawl into her voice. "It's my fault that our families could be alone and worried. It's my fault that you can't get a smile out of me anymore, no matter how hard you try. It's my own fault that I'm being such a jerk. It's-"
"Molly," I interrupt. "Stop. None of this is your fault. It's not your fault that we're here. I promise."
"Yes, it is," she whispers.
"It isn't. Stop arguing; you know it's inevitable. I've said it once, and I'll say it again; none of this is your fault! Okay?" She nods slowly, and I sigh.
"I'm sorry," I murmur. "For everything."
She crosses her arms over her chest. "It's not your fault, either. We could do this all day, Alex."
"Yes, we could," I agree. "It's not your fault."
"Alex," she says firmly, her dark brown eyes growing even more serious than they were before.
"I'm not playing around," I say before she can call me out for joking at a time like this. "I'm telling you that it isn't your-"
"You know what?" she sighs. "It wasn't either of our faults. It's Zack's and Gavin's. Okay?"
"Okay," I say after a moment. I take a deep breath. "Okay."
"Just try to calm down," she suggests. "Don't read too far into the situation."
I stare at her. "I could say the same to you," I retort. She rolls her eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, the helper becomes the helpless one," she mutters.
"Are you calling me helpless?" I chuckle, and she scoffs.
"Maybe," she grumbles, and she gives me a small smile before dashing into the trees.
"Hey!" I exclaim, changing into my wolf form and sprinting after her.

I hear Molly's footsteps very close by, and I speed up. I see her red hair through the trees and use more momentum to leap into the air. She turns to look at me and squeaks before I transform into a human midair and land on my feet in front of her. I tap her shoulder.
"Gotcha," I laugh. I reach out in an attempt to tickle her, but she smacks my hand away with an amused look on her face.
"C'mon!" I cry. "You called me helpless." She smirks and runs off again, in the direction of the camp. I grin and run after her.
This will be a fun break.

A/N: I'm still sorry about the slow update on Immortal High. So, I gave you an update here very soon after that one in return.
I've said this in my Author's Note book and Immortal High, but comment to let me know whether or not I should make an art book! The content would be much easier for me than book content. So should I make an art book, or does that not fit with my profile?
Thank for reading, and stay heavenly!
