Molly's POV
"You're sure this is Bella's cabin, right?" I ask, just to make sure.
"Yes," The Dreaming Wanderer sighs. "Tell her that we're going on a journey, and that if she comes, we can find Hillary and Phantom. Maybe we can look for them during the travel."
"Alright," I say, turning to the door. I knock firmly, and Bella pokes her head outside a moment later. Her age surprises me. By the way people talked about her, I expected her to be in her thirties, at least. She's about my own age. Does this mean Hillary is our age, too?
"You must be the new initiates," she assumes. "Alex and Molly, right?"
"Y-yes," I reply, taken aback by her normality. Everyone speaks of her as if she's completely insane. In reality, she's just as normal as the rest of us.
"I'm Bella," she says, opening the door wider and stepping closer. "Nice to meet you."
"You, too," Alex pipes in, and I smile at her. I feel awful for her. If everyone thinks of her like I did, she'll be seen as the strangest person in camp.
"So, did you need anything?" she asks, tugging at the sleeve of her blue cotton sweater.
"A-actually, we wanted to know if you wanted to come exploring with us," I explain. "We're trying to find someone important, and we may be able to find Hillary and Phantom along the way."
Her eyes light up. "Really?" she breathes.
"I can't make any promises," I admit. "But we can definitely search for her while we look for our main goal. It would be easier if you came with us."
"O-of course!" she exclaims. "Do I need to pack anything?"
"The only things necessary for you to bring with you are a few pairs of clothes," The Dreaming Wanderer says from behind Alex and I. "I have the rest of the necessities." She holds up her extra infinity pouch.
"Il be back in a moment!" she assures us before disappearing into her cabin. I turn to Alex and The Dreaming Wanderer.
"So, are we bringing anyone else with us?" I ask.
"Molly," The Dreaming Wanderer murmurs, "I'm going to speak to Alex for a moment, okay?"
"Okay," I reply uncertainly.
"Alex, follow me," The Dreaming Wanderer says, and he walks along behind her as she weaves through the nearby trees.
Alex's POV
"What do you need to ask me about?" I murmur.
"I need to monitor someone when we go," she whispers.
"Okay," I reply, unsure of where she is going. "Why is that so important?"
"We need to bring Zack with us so that I can watch over him," she sighs. I stagger backwards.
"W-what?" I breathe.
"If it's okay with you and Molly, he's coming with us," she says. "I don't want him hurting any of the citizens here."
"We can't," I whisper. "Molly will freak out, and there is no way I will ever allow him near her again!"
"Alex," she mumbles in a warning tone.
"I'm sorry," I sigh. "I just don't want her getting hurt again." I can't see her like that again, either.
"I just want to make-" she starts.
"Put him in a prison cell!" I suggest. "He's going to try and possess her again. What happens then? The rest of us are in danger, we lose a traveler, and there are two psychopath demons prowling the camp."
She huffs. "Fine," she murmurs. "That would probably be a good idea. But we need to put him in a magic-proof containment area."
"Just don't make us bring him along," I beg. "You can do almost anything if she doesn't have to come face to face with him after what he did to her." She nods, and I turn, walking back out of the trees.
Molly's POV
Bella opens the door again, clothing stacked up in her arms. "Where'd the others go?" she inquires.
"They went to talk about something," I reply, rubbing the back of my neck. "I don't know what it-"
I scream when I feel weight on my back and arms wrap around my neck. I stagger backwards and pry the hands off of me. They fly off of my back, and I whip around to see who it is.
"Alex!" I exclaim. "What the heck is wrong with you?!"
Alex lets out a loud laugh, and I cross my arms over my chest.
"I thought you were Zack," I whisper shakily, and he stops laughing. He looks up at me, his eyes softening, and he stands up. He wraps me up in his arms.
"I'm sorry, Molly," he mumbles, and I hesitantly return his embrace.
I see Bella tilt her head from the corner of my eye. "Are you two together?" she asks.
I leap away from Alex, heat rushing to my cheeks. "No, no, no, no," I laugh hurriedly. "W-we've just known each other for a-a long t-time."
"Y-yeah," Alex agrees, rubbing the back of his neck and letting out a nervous laugh.
"Oh," she breathes with a nod.
"Well," The Dreaming Wanderer sighs as she approaches us. "Before we leave, I've got something to do."
"What is it?" I ask.
"I'm going to get Zack into a containment area," she mumbles softly, and I stiffen at his name.
"Oh," I whisper. "Okay. Y-you can do that."
"It's okay," she assures me. "He won't be able to get out. I can create a cell that blocks all of his magic. If we report him soon enough, we can even get guards stationed at his cell."
I take a deep breath and nod, traumatic experiences of the demonic transformation flashing through my mind.
"You three can wait here or walk around while I get him locked up," she says before running off. I sigh, staring at her as she goes.
"You'll be okay," Alex murmurs, rubbing my back. "He's going to be locked up."
"I know," I whisper, staring up into the clouds.
I know I'm safe with you all.
