Extremely Important A/N
I had to make a note like this in Immortal High. I'm running extremely low on inspiration. Because of this, I'm going to have to use a huge time skip. I'm so, so sorry. At some point, I will delete this version and reupload a better version or edit this and make it better. MmAll you need to know now is that Wes has gained the group's trust, Adrianna has reluctantly moved on from Jason's death, the group is so, so much better at combat and controlling their powers, Molly still has some feelings for Alex and Alex is still confused, and they're almost at the Demon Camp. Thank you for your patience, and I hope I can improve. In the mean time, here's to forty chapters!
•••••••••••••••••Molly's POV
"We're close," Nikki says, her expression wistful. "So close."
"I can sense the demonic presence," Adrianna murmurs calmly. "It's close, all right."
Alex and I look at each other worriedly. We've each waited for each other to be changed from our demonic forms, and we don't want to have to go through that again.
I tug at the collar of my red cloak. We acquired these in an abandoned village a while back, and we decided that the color and mysteriousness would make a good disguise.
In unison, we lift our hoods over our heads and pull the sides of our cloaks together, hiding our weapons in them. We take off at a run and Nikki leads us to the camp. It isn't long before we arrive. I pull my hood down lower.
"State your business," a gruff voice barks.
"Delivering a message to Zack Lyda," Nikki replies.
"It takes five people to deliver a message?" he asks, clearly unfazed.
Nikki holds up an infinity pouch. "We have several things to give him."
"IDs, please."
She tenses up. At our camp, we didn't need names or anything because the species there are good enough to identify dark people. Demons aren't powerful enough to do this. They must need IDs.
"I suppose we'll need to take the other route," Nikki murmurs. That's the message.
I make sure to keep my arm hidden in the cloak and grab an arrow, pulling it into the bowstring. The guard lifts a finger, seeming to focus on Nikki. After a moment, she lets out a blood-curling shriek.
"Dreaming Wanderer!" Wes cries. Her screams stop, and she crumples to the ground.
"What did you do to her?!" I demand, rushing forward. I pull a dagger from my belt and hold it to his neck, grabbing his shirt. "What did you do?!"
He focuses on me this time, and I feel a sudden pain rippling through my body. A scream rips through my throat, and it feels like my muscles are being twisted. The hood falls from my head as I struggle to break free of the invisible grasp.
The pain stops abruptly, and I stagger backwards. Alex runs over and catches me, and the world spins.
"You're the Great Angel," the man says. He looks up at Alex, his gaze hardening even more than before. He leaps forward and yanks me out of Alex's arm. I scream again, pain surging through me.
"Stop hurting her!" he shouts. The man ignores him, sprouting his wings. We lift into the air, and I squeeze my eyes shut as the world fades in and out of focus.
I finally escape from consciousness, my friends' shouts lulling me into a deep sleep.
