The last few weeks of camp were the best. Harmony was back at full strength and we hung out more than ever before. Drake was with us most of the time too. It felt good to just be campers for the last month of camp. A couple days before school was supposed to start, and camp was going to end, Harmony gave us the news.
"So." She started awkwardly. "Do you guys remember the request from my dad?"
My smile melted. "Yeah. What about it?"
She looked down. "I'm leaving in awhile to fulfill it."
My heart sunk. "When is in awhile?"
"Like an hour."
"What? Why so soon?"
"It's huge Atlanta. It will take a long time."
"What do you have too do?"
She shook her head. "Top secret." She muttered.
I crashed her into a hug. "I'll miss you!"
Drake joined in. "Me too."
Harmony smiled. "I'll miss you guys too. I will be back. Maybe not soon, but I will. I promise."
I stepped back. "Do good Harmony. Prove to the gods that you can do it beyond their standards."
Harmony smiled, gave us one last hug, and ran too her cabin, to prepare for the journey of a lifetime. The night before camp ended, I lay on the sand near the waters edge. My mom had written to me the day before, saying she'd found a new school that had accepted me for seventh grade. She had also said she couldn't wait to see me, she wanted to know everything.
"Hey." A voice said.
I whirled around, and saw Drake, walking towards me. His muscle shirt and black jeans were caked with mud. He wore no shoes.
"Hey." I replied softly, then smiled. "You look messy."
He smirked. "Thanks." He mused, then sat next to me.
"I can't believe camp is over. It was so short." I said solemnly.
"I know. I'm going to miss everything about it." Drake turned to me and smiled. "And I'll miss you."
I laughed. "I'll miss you and camp too. But there is always next summer."
"Do you have a school to go too?"
I nodded. "Some private school my mom found, fairly close to home."
"That's good."
"Yeah."
Drake scooted closer and put his arm around me. I sighed in content.
"Do you miss being on a quest?" I asked.
"Yea." He complies. "I miss the action, the coolness of the water, the suspense of not knowing what's going to happen next."
I lightly touched the scar beneath my eye. "And making memories that will last forever." I smiled when Drake turned to look at me. He chuckled.
Then, totally catching me off guard, he leaned over and lightly, kissed the scar.
My insides screamed.
"The first memory, of many too come." He said helping me stand.
We left with memories too keep, and the hope for many more to come.~~~~~~~~~~
