Chapter 29

Burial

Wayne Manor

Bruce Wayne was right outside of his giant mansion in the pouring rain. He stood in front of a grave with his son's name on it. His butler, Alfred Pennyworth stood right behind him with an umbrella in his right hand.

There was an empty coffin in the ground in front of the grave. Bruce couldn't find his son's body. After the Darkseid and Brainiac Incident he figured the body had perished away.

Bruce covered the bodiless grave with dirt. Alfred shed a tear. Bruce kneeled in front of the grave and put his right hand on the top of it.

"I am so sorry Damian." Bruce said to the grave as if it were Damian. Bruce's clothes were wet because he didn't stand under Alfred's umbrella. "It should've been me who died at the hands of Darkseid, not you. You saved my life Damian and I failed to save yours. I couldn't save you. You were my son! I was foolish to think you could help us against Darkseid without consequences. I should've learned after what had happened to Jason. I failed you Damian and I am truly sorry for that."

Bruce got out a Robin shield that was in his pocket and leaned it on the grave. Raindrops were hitting Bruce's head, messing up his hair. Bruce kneeled in front of the grave in silence for a long two minutes. After the silence Bruce and Alfred walked back inside the Wayne Manor.
