In the morning, when I came out of the attic with Kara, I noticed two things. One, I had pointy teeth, two, Jamie was missing. I grabbed her arm and ran down stairs and out onto the street where everyone was waiting. I quickly scanned the group and it confirmed something…
Jamie was gone.
“Finally you guys appear. What, were you doing something naughty?” Sami asked, winking. Kara blushed but I held up my hand.
“Shut it Sami, where’s Jamie?” I asked. She fell silent and looked worried.
“I thought that she was with you guys.” Sami said. We looked around the group.
“Does anybody know where Jamie is?” Nobody moved. But then Kyle raised his hand. “Ok Kyle?” He took a deep breath.
“She’s with James.” We all fell silent. Kara broke the silence.
“He kidnapped her?” Kyle shook his head.
“She chose to go with him.” He said. We all looked at him in disbelief.
“What?” Sami said.
“You heard me perfectly clear guys… she chose to go with him…” Kyle said.
“Then that is her choice… I trust that she knows what she is doing.” I said.
“Ok.” Everyone agreed. We started walking towards the castle, which was now pretty close.
-Night Fall-
It was nightfall now, and we were going into a house. Kara and I went to the attic, and the rest explored the house. I grinned.
“The attic brings back memories huh?” I said, nudging her. She shoved me.
“Shut up.” I helped her get in and then I jumped in after her. After closing the opening, we explored it quickly for a good hiding space. We climbed up into the rafters, and I found a good little hidden ledge in the rafters. Kara and I climbed in, and were silent for a tiny portion of time, sitting quietly, just me and her. She leaned against me.
“Will you still protect me?” She asked quietly.
“Forever and I promise never to hurt you. Just keep your end of the deal.” I whispered back. I felt her smile.
“Of course...” I felt fire run through my bones. I cried out. She immediately got up and looked at me.
“What’s wrong?!?!” I held up my hand, which used to be tan, but now my fingers were milk white. Her eyes widened. “The third stage…” The white continued to travel up my arm and went past my shoulder, where it meets with the white from my other hand. It extended down my chest and my legs and to my feet, when the white on my neck traveled up and onto my face, where it went around and stopped finally, the burning sensation stopping. I collapsed, and Kara caught me and hugged me close.
“It’s ok… it’s ok… I’m here and it’s over.” She whispered in my ear. I moved back from her.
“How do I look?” I asked her. She looked me up and down.
“Like an Archangel. All you are missing are the wings… white skin, black hair, pointed teeth, golden eyes… tomorrow you will be a full Angel… but you know what?” Kara asked me, grabbing my chin and forced me to look at her. “I don’t care. I love Tristan and that is final.” She kissed me before snuggling into my arms. I looked down at her before smirking and bending down to whisper something in her ear.
