I brushed my teeth twice to get rid of the smell of wine and took longer than I would like to admit worrying about what to wear. I picked a V-neck black shirt, a pair of skinny jeans, black ankle boots with a small heel, and a heart necklace. I brushed out my hair 5 times before giving up on it. Why was I trying so hard? Oh, come on, like I didn't know. I wanted to impress him.
I was ready and had ten minutes till I had to start walking to school. I sat in front of my mirror staring at my make-up. He had liked it and I enjoyed putting it on, but wasn't that giving up a little bit too much of myself. Wait, seriously?! I have a bigger problem giving up my choice of wearing makeup then giving up my virginity?! Nice to know where my loyalties lie.
I grabbed my backpack and rushed out the door before I could convince myself to wear makeup. I suppose it was some pitiful attempt to regain control over myself. The short walk seemed too long with just me and my thoughts, but thank god, I eventually arrived.
The halls didn't seem as confusing today and the teachers less threatening. I decided this was due to having adjusted a little but I didn't believe it. I felt more confident, more sure of myself, and just more graceful like he had seemed yesterday. I suddenly collided with someone.
"Oh, my goodness! I'm sooo sorry!" I looked up to see the girl Cole had been with yesterday.
"Oh, it's okay, I was looking for you actually!" Crap! Why would she be looking for me?
"What do you need?" I tried to use my new found confidence to my advantage, but she seemed so threatening.
"I just thought we should get to know each other. Hi, I'm Kayla, Cole's girlfriend" She smiled at me warmly. I felt a tinge of paranoia and guilt. Does she know.
"Hey, I'm Emma," his new lover, hope you don't mind, "What's up?"
"Oh, I'm just about to go meet Cole for first period, I think you're in there too."
"Yeah! You jumped over my desk!" I recalled how she had made him smile. The smile hadn't seemed like much to me at the time but now I couldn't help but love it.
"Yeah, sorry." Her laugh was even perfect and I found myself hating her, "Well, I have to go meet up with Cole, bye." She waved and turned on her heels, strutting away.
I tried to imitate her strut as I walked into first period. I didn't bother looking around, but just sat down and stared at my books.
"Somebody's suddenly shy." I recognized the voice instantly and growled under my breathe.
"Look if you have got a problem, then say it!" I said, standing up quickly and turning toward him. He wasn't alone, this time he had friends.
"Told you she had anger issues." The new boy laughed revealing a deep voice that fit perfectly with his looks.
The new boy had light brown skin and dark eyes with curly short hair, he wasn't ugly but he wasn't attractive either. Ian, however was extremely attractive with pale skin and a football jersey covering all too obvious muscles.
"What do you want, Ian?" I made a disgusted face as I said his name.
"Why are you so angry? And what was your name?" His friend finally spoke and if I wasn't so mad I would've melted at the sound of his voice. It was a little deeper than his laugh and so confident and beautiful.
"My name is Emma and your friend was picking on me yesterday for no reason!"
"You were pointlessly sitting on the ground, I thought you were mentally retarded and needed help." Okay! That's it! I stepped closer to him and poked his chest.
"The only mentally retarded one is you and if you think for a second I'm going to let you talk to me like that, you've got another thing coming!" He just chuckled at my reaction. I'm not sure why but turned to his friend.
"You're both idiots, who need to go get a life!" With that I sat back down and stared forward. Apparently Charlotte had come in during that and all during class she was making me pass notes with her explaining. With all the commotion, I forgot to say hi to Kayla and Cole, but maybe that was for the best. Probably shouldn't make friends with her, that would just be insult to injury. Not that she would know that.
