The days are moving faster than expected. It hasn't even been a week and we are overloaded with thousand more homework's. Selma lay lazily on the lunch table one Tuesday after having a sleepless night as I sit next to her completing her article that she was asked to submit right after break. "The marks will be announced today remember?" I say cheerfully trying to distract her lazy mind "What marks?" she questions being all dreamy. She looks as though she is at a state of passing out "The project marks remember?" I remind her as this slightly gets her concentration back. She looks at me dizzily as I hand her the notes "Wouldn't it be exciting if we score good?" She stirs her apple juice with her straw but does not have a sip. The past few days have been so exhausting for the two of us that neither Selma nor I had the opportunity to bring up the "Arlene" topic. Selma managed to be friends with Alivia again but she couldn't get her to spill any beans yet as she says.
Sabby places herself the opposite side of the table worriedly as she says "Hi"
"Hey" We say in reply.
"Is... everything ok? Am I interrupting something?"
"Not at all" I speak, politely.
"Look, I'm sorry for how they humiliated you that day it-
"It was! It was totally stupid of him! But it's ok. You don't need to apologize for it. You haven't done anything wrong. You were, were right about him" I say the last few words painfully.
"I'm sorry" She says unhappily. But it doesn't make me as upset as her after all it isn't my emotions that matters as I have vowed to keep him happy even if it upsets me.
"Hey! I'm planning on going out for shopping tonight you guys want to come? We could have dinner out together. My treat" She says excitedly but the replies she gets are rather dull. "Sure"
"Ow, is Alivia coming with us?" I ask for assurance.
"No! I'm not crazy! You don't think I want to piss you off now come on"
"Great" I reply excitedly, showing a little more interest now.
"Be there at 9 "o" in front of that tea stall at the opposite of the barber's shop I'll be waiting"
"Be where?" Someone asks dragging all our attention, including Selma's to the voice that just rose among the conversation. It belongs to Zealot. I look away, rolling my eyes and suddenly the stuffed rice in my tray feels like the most interesting thing.
"Hey Nancy" He says in an excited state. I realize it isn't just me who is ignoring him but the rest of the two who give him a dead eye and start stuffing food into their mouths.
"You know, it's not good to ignore someone" He continues kissing my forehead "Babe, come-on talk to me" he includes as he finds him talking to himself. After a short silence he pulls me off my seat "I need to talk to you babe" He whispers gripping my hands with his fingers sharply. I try to push him away but he doesn't let go of me until he completes his sentence. "And I know you still love me. I'm sorry. I don't know why I act so stupid at times" these few words of him melt me a little and I agree to talk to him out of the lunch hall. I give Sabby and Selma a waving goodbye and step out of the hall.
"I might have promised to keep you happy but that doesn't mean you have the right to take away my dignity to be clear so what do you have to say?" I question rudely.
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for humiliating you that day I didn't mean to the day would have been more amazing with you"
"Why are you apologizing now? Why haven't you done it when you were supposed to, TWO WEEKS back huh?"
