Chapter 42- Surveillance
(Spanish glossary on last page)
Kensi's POV
"He saved my life a few times while I was captive." I said, staring at Alejandro. How did he find me?
"And now I need your help. Someone has my family." He quivered.
"What do you mean? They were kidnapped?" I asked, motioning him to sit down.
"More like ransom. Listen, I've made some bad choices, ran with the wrong crowds, but it was all for mi familia."
"What happened, Alejandro?" Deeks spoke up.
"Last martes I found a letter taped to my door after work. I had really cleaned up my act, I was working at a mechanic shop that surprisingly wasn't in with the cartels. Anyways, here's the note."
"Tenemos tu famila. Alambre de cien mil dólares americanos en el número de cuenta se enumeran a continuación, y su familia vivirán. No entregar el dinero, todos mueren. Tienes una semana.
"We have your family. Wire one hundred thousand American dollars into the account number listed below, and your family shall live. You don't deliver the money, they all die. You have one week." I translated.
"I don't have one hundred thousand dollars, Kensi. You have to help me find my family. I can't let my girls die." He cried, handing me a small photograph from his wallet. It was of Alejandro with his arm around the waist of a beautiful Hispanic woman. In front of them were two young girls. They couldn't be older than ten.
"Why didn't you go to the police?" I asked, knowing there wasn't much I could do unless Naval officers were involved.
"They won't do anything. My loves will be dead before they even get close. But your people, they found you and killed the hijos de puta. Please, you have to help me."
I glanced over to a sad looking Deeks. We both knew this wasn't our jurisdiction.
"Do you have any more information? Do you know who would take them?" I asked.
"The only person I can think of that would kidnap an entire family is Rico Paz. I only worked with him for a short time because he started taking the families of United States soldiers. I didn't want to get involved with that."
"Wait, so you witnessed U.S. Marines and Navy families being taken and held by this Rico guy?" Deeks said, looking at me with a little bit of hope.
"And killed." He murmered.
"Now, I think we can help." I smiled.
"¡Oh, gracias, gracias! Que Dios bendiga a los dos." He yelled out in joy.

"Rico Paz. He is a Mexican immigrant, and citizen of the United States as of November 2009. He has been one of the suspects in many kidnappings involving the families of high ranking Marines and Naval officers, but Alejandro Leon is the first to actually witness him with the families." Nell briefed us a few hours later. We had three days to find Alejandro's family, and we weren't wasting any time. Hetty had taken care of clearing the case with Granger, and now we just had to find out where he was hiding the family.
"So Rico has the family of Alejandro right now?" Callen asked.
"Yes Mr. Callen. If we don't find them by Tuesday, then he will lose his loved ones. Mr. Leon doesn't have the money to pay the ransom, not that we would suggest that." Hetty explained.
"We, uh, have a known address of Rico Paz. It's on your phones now." Eric cut in.
"So we have to do surveillance?" Deeks groaned.
