The New Prototype

Chapter 7

"What happened?" Ragland asked us. Alex placed her on the operating table and watched Ragland survey her body.

"Umm, sh-she's unresponsive, but stable....Also, we've got other problems....It just...turned up." Ragland handed Alex a map and it had a lot of red marker on it. I assumed that it was bad.

"Well, what now?" Ragland asked him.

"Looks like we've got plans. Do what you can for her." Alex said and pulled me towards the door.

When we walked out of the door, Alex pulled me to the side and told me to tell him how I found Dana on the roof. I told him the whole thing with Greene. He didn't look too happy afterwards.

"First she infects Manhattan and now she does this shit. What the fuck is her deal? What does she have against me?" Alex asked.

"Maybe she's intimidated by you. You're as strong as her Alex, except you don't have an army of hunters. But you could stand a chance against her. Maybe that's why she feels like she needs to mess with you."

"...I think that's probably the smartest thing that has ever come out of your mouth." Alex said.

"Really? Am I being praised?"

"For now, but we need to go to-"

I felt something vibrating in my sweater pocket and I checked inside. A small phone was in the pocket and I had no idea where it came from. I picked it up and a deep voice started talking to me.

"Mercer."

"No, this is Ethan." I said.

"Where is Mercer? Let me speak to him immediately." The person was very rude.

"If you would ask nicely, then I could grant you your wish. Asshole." I said. Alex snatched the phone out of my hands and talked to the person. Alex hung up and I asked him what the person said.

"We're going to the refueling station on top of the Highlines Building. We'll find what we need there." Alex said.

"Another adventure? YEAH!" I screamed.

I heard Alex groan in annoyance. I'm getting really excited! Things are starting to heat up and it's going to be fucking epic!

(A Few Moments Later...)

Alex consumed a dude and we found the helicopter with a GPS used to go back to their base. We got on the helicopter and flew away into the sunset...not really.

(Blackwatch Headquarters...)

Alex and I shape shifted into two random Blackwatch commanders and silently made our way into the group of soldiers listening to a commander on the podium talk.

"Substance A-113A which we call Bloodtox due to it odd coloration is a poison which only affects the Blacklight virus. We will cover the city in it to stop the spread of the virus and kill all the infected with it. To humans, it is completely harmless. So harmless in fact, that you've been breathing it since you entered this room."

All of a sudden, I felt nauseous. Like I wanted to puke all my organs out. I felt the virus inside of me begging that I go outside. I looked up in the air and saw red smoke coming out of the vents. I coughed a little and Alex glanced at me. I gave him a thumbs up and started coughing again. Now, I was having a coughing fit. Then I fell to my knees and started gagging. Alex was obviously stronger than me because he didn't seem to be affected at all. I got up and ran out the door. I heard soldiers calling after me, but I had to get out of there quick. I ran into a bunch of soldiers and they all had their guns pointed at me.
