"Isn't it beautiful?" My mother bragged to my aunt as we all sat around the mahogany table. I smiled as they all stared at my new diamond ring with jealous eyes.
"Tell me again how he asked you" my aunt asked in awe. I took my hand away and looked at the ring myself. We were filling in time waiting for the rest of the dinner party to arrive, including my fiancé, Matt.
"Well he bought me a beautiful dress and surprised me with it laying on the bed when I got home from work. He left a note telling him to put it on, we were going to dinner later. I got ready as he pulled up in a tuxedo, we went to a fancy restaurant and I thought he was gonna ask then, but then we went on a walk where he set up a canopy filled with lights and flowers and he asked me there"
I smiled reliving last week, also the best day of my life. Me and Matt had been together for two and a half years. One month was enough for me to fall in love with him, but I didn't mind the wait because I fell in love with him harder everyday.
The door suddenly opened and walked in Matt, my dad, and my sister. Matt had a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
He rushed to the table and kissed my cheek softly, "Sorry I'm late beautiful, but I got you these" he said handing me the scented white bouquet. I smiled and thanked him as he sat down beside me.
His outgoing nature took of as he greeted my family and started a steady conversation. I felt him reach for my hand under the table. I grabbed it immediately and stared at my beautiful fiancé, the love of my life, the guy I was due to marry.
