The air was crisp as I stepped outside to place the candy bowl on the glass table. The plaid scarf around my neck kept me from shivering in the autumn air. I kicked off the dead leaves as I walked into the doorway and back inside our warm house.

"Cameron the kids are gonna steal all of the candy before we get a chance to pass it out!" I yelled throughout the house to my husband who was finishing up getting ready. I heard the door close and his feet shuffling down the stairs. He wore a plain white tee and a brown jacket with his denim jeans and boots.

"I know it's Halloween but I'd rather not scare the kids away with my looks" he told me stealing a kiss and turning on the front porch light. I rolled my eyes and opened the red front door for him. He walked outside and sat in one of the rocking chairs set out for the occasion. I followed him, closing the door, and sat in the identical chair beside him.

Only minutes passed until we started seeing young trick-or-treaters dressed in their childish costumes. Groups of children walked up to our porch as we passed out candy together.

"I kinda feel lame" Cameron said to me as a group of teenagers walked away with a bag full of candy.

I turned my attention to him, "And why is that?" I asked smirking, the sound of excited children filled the background so I had to speak up.

"All of our friends are out at Halloween parties and were that old married couple that passes out candy to kids on Halloween" he stated. I chucked and smiled at my dorky husband.

"We are that old married couple, oh my gosh!" I laughed covering my face with my hands. He smiled at me with his sharp, brown eyes. "Hey we're the fun old people though, without us kids wouldn't be able to trick or treat" I told him making a point.

"All true but I think you only wanted to pass out candy for the leftovers afterwards" he said. I jokingly glared at him and grabbed a piece of candy out of the bucket.

"You're good Dallas" I said taking a bite of the chocolate bar and pointing at him with my spare hand. Another group of children walked up and we passed out the candy to them, ending the conversation for now.

Later as the night grew darker and kids grew fainter we decided it was time to pack up and go inside. Cameron grabbed the bucket of candy as we walked inside to the living room. We sat on the carpet and laid out all the leftover candy, throwing the gross pieces away and keeping the good brands for ourselves. I picked out a scary movie and we laid on the couch eating the leftovers and watching the movie, "You know what Cameron?" I asked, he looked at me, ushering me to go on, "I honestly think we have more fun than our lame friends on Halloween" I finished.

"I think I agree, we had a way more awesome day and I got to spend it with my girl" he said pulling me closer to him.
