short but sweet

I looked from my husband to my daughter. He lay sprawled out on the floor watching her small body struggle to turn over. He grabbed her hand and gently shook it, "Hey babygirl, it's daddy" he softly said. I smiled and listened to her coo back at him. He chuckled, "Say dada?" He asked, knowing he wouldn't get a reply out of our three month old.

"No Mia, say mama" I said crawling off the sofa and onto the floor, where my family was laying. She turned her small head from Carter to me and smiled, "Are you a mommy's girl?" I asked in my baby voice. She shook her legs and waved her arms, not understanding what I was saying but glad there was another person to play with her.

"I love watching you with her" he said staring at me, his head leaned on his hand for support. I smiled at him and stared back in awe. I have the perfect life; a beautiful daughter, a loving husband, I honestly couldn't ask for more out of life. I leaned over Mia, who was too busy playing with her foot to even notice the two of us. I softly planted a kiss on Carter's lips. He more than willingly kissed me back. Mia screeched, I guess that's a normal response when kids see their parents kissing, except for the fact that she doesn't know what kissing is. I laughed at her and kissed her forehead. Carter rubbed her belly and started talking baby talk to her again.

"I wish everyday was as easy as this" I told Carter. Mia cooed again, kicking her legs as if she were agreeing. If I had someone waiting on me hand and foot I'd be pretty happy too.

"Did you hear that?" Carter asked smiling. I shook my head no, confused as to what he just discovered. "She said yeah! She knows what we're saying" he said obviously joking. "Mia, you will not get a boyfriend until you're thirty, you understand me missy!" He said playing with her feet. I giggled and went along with it, enjoying the quality time with my small family.
