"I like you," he said, "a lot." He fumbled with this fingers and bit his lip. His blue eyes were a dreaming, waiting color as they looked into my simple, green ones. My heart clenched, I knew what was happening, although I dreaded it.

"Hayes" I stammered, biting my lip, "I'm not sure what you want me to say?" I said shaking my head. My forehead ached, as well as my heart. My palms were sweaty so I wiped them on my jeans.

"Say anything, something, please" he smiled. He looked at me like I was the light that filled his eyes.

"I can't say what you want to hear. I can't say I wake up in the morning thinking about you and go to bed dreaming about you. I don't get ready thinking about if I'm going to impress you or not. I don't perform because I think that I'll impress you. I don't look at other guys and imagine they're you Hayes, I just don't," I sadly told him, "I'm sorry" I choked.

He slowly lost his smile as I told him the truth. He gulped and looked away, letting out a heavy breath.

"Hayes you'll always be my best friend" I reminded him, although I knew it wasn't true, we'd never go back to the way we were.

He faked smiled and nodded his head, "Sure" he blankly agreed, "Well I'm gonna go." Hayes said, his voice went out, like he was ready to cry out what he really wanted to say to me.

"Hayes" I said as he turned away from me. He turned back around and looked at me, regret filled his face, "I really am sorry" he nodded his head and left me alone, kind of like I left him.
