I tried jumping out of the car, before we stopped in front of Madeline's house, but Shane put the Child Safety lock on. He grinned to himself as I tried the other door but sadly, it was on Child Safety lock as well. I should've stayed home.
We walked up to the front door and Shane rung the doorbell. "Now, we are going to be at our best. Rylee, don't ruin your Madeline's wedding, okay sweetie?" Shane asked. I nod my head. I am going to be far away from her as possible.
Adam opened the door and smiled. "Hello Rylee..." Adam looked at Shane. "Shane, her boyfriend." Shane says and held onto my hand. "What a lovely couple. Come inside. Your mother is fitting into her dress." I cringed when he said mother. "You can explore around if you like." Adam says looking at me. "We'll just be out back with the rest of the guest." I say and followed Shane into the backyard.
There were about a total of 20 people there. None were her family members. Just strangers. Is Madeline really desperate? I saw Robert standing in the isle. "Come meet Madeline's fiancee." I tell Shane and we walked over to him.
Robert was shaking hands and hugging everyone. I guess these people are is friends and family. You know what's weird. Neither dad or Jared aren't here. They must be looking for a present to give to the engaged couple.
What felt like an hour, Madeline finally started walking down the isle. Where are they? Ode To Joy (Beethoven) was playing as Madeline and Robert were walking down the isle together. The priest told them to say their vows and etc. Then we heard a crash. "YOU WHORE! GETTING MARRIED TO A MAN YOU HAVEN'T EVEN KNOWN FOR THAT LONG!" my father yelled. Has he been drinking?
Madeline looked furious. "How dare you come into my home and disrespect me at my own wedding Roger!" she yelled. "You shouldn't be using men's money by marrying them and using our daughter to marry a young man? How shellfish can you get?" dad yelled but his voice was calmer. Madeline picked up a vase and threw it at my dad. She missed.
Moments later, Madeline and Roger were throwing things at each other. "You shellfish demon! Your own daughter can't even call you mom!" dad yells.
Shane and I were siting in the back with Jared; who was taping the whole thing. "This might be the most craziest wedding ever." Shane says. "There've been worse." I tell him and then Robert sat with us. "Madeline is a crazy woman. I try my best to please her but when I do she wants more. How did you put up with it?" he asked. "She was never around me. I barely know her Robert. But I do need you to take care of her." I say. This should be dad telling him this. "Are you sure?" "Yes." Roger nodded and told us thank you for coming.
Shane, Jared and I left the wedding and stayed at an hotel. We all shared a bedroom but only two beds so Shane shared a bed with me. "Some wedding that turned out to be." I say with a sigh. Jared came out of the bathroom and sat on his bed. "I told dad that we're staying here for the night." he says. "Okay, is he alright?" Shane asked. "Yeah, Robert offered him to stay the night so yeah." Jared says and then their voices got muffled. I drifted off to sleep.
A week after the encounter with my dad and Madeline, they forgave each other,Shane took me to the beach.
It was a beautiful afternoon. "Let's go surf those waves!" I say to Shane. "If you want to." he says as he waxes his board. I did the same.
A couple of hot guys came walking by. "Let me tap that!" one boy said. "She got the bait!" another said and high fived his friends. "Sorry, I'm taken." I say with a smile on my face. The boys walked off devastated. Then couple of girls in bikinis started running by us.
Shane was still waxing his board. How does he not notice them? "I'm all ready." he says and helps me off of the ground. I wipe off some of the sand off my body and ran into the water.
He taught me how to Duck dive,Hang Ten,Layback(I failed), pipeline and Roundhouse.
After an hour of complete failure, the both of us sat down on our blankets and looked at the sunset. I lie my head on Shane's shoulder and sighed. "Beautiful, ain't it?" he says. "Just like you." I smile and saw those airplane banners.
I read it. "Rylee, I love you more than life itself. If your love has shown me nothing else, it is that life always has so much more to give. Being with you has made every part of my life better. Your kindness, compassion, humor, and support have made me realize that no matter what may happen, if you're by my side, it can not be better. I will always be there for you too, no matter what you may face or how dire the situation may seem, even as we grow old together. I so want to grow old together with you. Will you marry me?" I looked at Shane and cried. "Yes."
