Silence. Awkward silence. They stared at each other for what felt like an eternity—well, to Yao. Face red and mind blank, he just continued staring at the entrancing violet orbs that bore into his dark, honey brown ones.
Regaining his sense of the real world, he closed his eyes, inhaled deeply and sighed. Looking back to the wolf in front of him, he gave him a small smile and planted a motherly kiss to his forehead. "Silly you, aru. Do not go speaking those words so lightly."
Ivan, confused, tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
"Well, you mustn't. Words are not to be played around with—especially those, aru." Yao lectured in a soft, slow voice. "They could give people the wrong idea, or hurt others' feelings." He chuckled a bit and placed a hand on the back of the other's head, some silver strands between his fingers. Yao gently pulled his head down to his lap, stroking his hair. "I am pretty sure you just love me as a good friend, aru. Hah, you gave me a scare for a moment!"
"Oh. Hahah..." was all Ivan had said. For some reason, he felt really sad and didn't want to speak too much. So, closing his eyes for a good minute, he drifted to sleep, a weird, aching pain in his chest.
"Hm? Ivan?" Yao had noticed he'd gone silent. He payed attention to his breathing and found out he was sound asleep. "What a child he is, aru."

Meanwhile, from a tree not so far from Ivan and Yao, three fairies spied on them and eavesdropped on their conversation.
"What? That's it? No amour?" Francis exclaimed as he scrunched up his nose.
"Poor thing! He just got flat out rejected!" Elizabeta wailed in utter disappointment.
"What are you two going on about?" Arthur turned to face the other two fairies. "You're both freaking out like this is some dire situation!"
Elizabeta waved her tiny arms. "It is a dire situation! Poor little Ivan got rejected!"
"Humans can be so dense." Francis complained. "They don't know how to sense these things! Even if they did, however, they'd just keep it to themselves!"
Arthur huffed. "Then what do you expect they would do?"
"Why, if I were in their place, I would show my love to everyone! Give love to all!" Francis threw a rose he got out of nowhere in the air. Arthur gagged at this, but Elizabeta agreed on it. "I will go give him a piece of my mind!" Francis declared and started flying toward them. Elizabeta, however, hit him with a frying pan.
"HAH!" Arthur exclaimed, pointing to him as he fell to the ground, face-first.
"No! We must leave them alone for now. It makes things exciting if they solve it themselves." She scolded, pointing the pan at him.
Francis was pissed off as he got up from the ground, but, not wanting to be hit in the face this time, he simply nodded obediently.

Yao decided to stay with Ivan until night time. It wasn't that much of a problem going hime at night, anyways; he does that whenever he does overtime at work. When Ivan woke up, he didn't act like himself, which worried Yao, but he went back to normal after some time.
They went back to a certain part of the woods that looked stunning in moonlight. Yao remembered it well, especially those icy eyes that stared at him before. "The place is so beautiful, right, aru?"
"Yeah. I really liked playing with my sisters here when we were pups." Ivan was still a bit down, so he didn't smile as brightly as before. Yao yawned and rubbed his eyes. It was already late, but he didn't mind. "Yao-Yao, are you alright? Do you want to rest?" Ivan asked, since he noticed his yawn.
Yao just smiled and shook his head. "No, I just want to spend time with you right now, aru."
"I see." Ivan came up with a mischievous plan. When Yao wasn't paying too much attention, he snuck up behind him. Then, he somehow got him on his shoulders.
Yao shrieked and held onto the wolf's head. "Ivan, put me down!"
"No." He teased. Well, now he felt better. He started to run around, scaring his friend even more.
"Iva~an!!" Yao started smacking his head. Ivan just laughed and continued.
So, they played around like young kids. When they were tired, they both sat on a large tree branch rather close to the ground. "Yao-Yao, remember that flower you gave me?"
"Hm? What flower?" He thought awhile, then remembered. "Oh, the sunflower. Yes, what about it, aru?"
"Do you have more of them?"
"Well, yes, I do have more of them. Do you want another, aru?" Ivan nodded. "Well, then, why don't I uproot one and replant it here, aru?"
"Really?" Ivan looked at him, excited. "You will do that?"
Yao laughed. "Who else will?"
Ivan beamed and pulled him in a tight hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you~!"
"You're welcome, aru." He yawned again and closed his eyes.
Ivan noticed this and held him gently, allowing the other to drift off to sleep. "Sleep tight, Yao.." Quietly, said he.
A few minutes later, Ivan found himself unable to sleep, but he didn't want to move. He didn't want to leave Yao there. So, bored, he just looked around at the scenery. Then, he saw a pair of large, green eyes watching him from a small distance. He wasn't afraid, however, for he knew someone with large eyes like those.
"Hello there, Lili~!" Ivan greeted.
Lili flinched, but smiled as she went forward. "Hello, Mr. Ivan..."
Lili was a fox girl who had a big brother named Basch, who'd harm anyone that'd hurt her. The two knew each other because of Ivan's sisters. Natalia was close with Lili, which made Ivan suspect something but waved it off sometime later.
"Uhm... Mr. Ivan, who is that?" Lili asked, her tail waving in curiosity.
"Hm? Oh, this is my friend, Yao." Ivan lifted him a bit, allowing Lili to see his sleeping face.
"Are they a human?" She asked, seeing no animal ears or tail whatsoever.
"Yup~!" Ivan smiled at her. "Please don't tell my sisters, though. I don't know what they'd do to him if they saw him here. Especially Natalia."
"Ah..." Lili examined Yao as he slept. "I will make sure they do not find out then, Mr. Ivan, but wouldn't befriending a human be dangerous?"
"Well," Ivan began. "Yao is far from dangerous. He woudn't do anything to you, me, or anyone here."
"Oh, alright." Looking at his face, she said timidly. "They're pretty."
"Yes, he is." Ivan smiled at Yao this time.
"May I tell my brother?" She asked, her big, innocent eyes shining.
"No, please do not."
"Ah, sorry..." Lili humbly said. "Well, I hope I can be friends with them, then, but I have to leave now. I was only passing by."
"Oh, alright." Ivan smiled warmly at her. "Stay safe there, Lili~!"
"Thank you, Mr. Ivan. You too." So, she went off and disappeared into the trees.
Ivan looked at the night sky. The area was an open one, so the sky wasn't blocked by a huge amount of branches and trees.
"Mmh... Kitty... aru..." Yao murmured in his sleep as he hugged Ivan's furry tail.
Ivan laughed a bit and went back to spacing off. He thought about earlier. Why did he feel so upset when Yao told him all those things? Oh, well. He'd find that out later, anyway.

Why did I write so early in the morning
Oh well
Also, Lili (Liechtenstein, if you didn't know) has a kinda important role in this story. Kinda. So, she won't be a random character that pops up once in the whole story.
