Fifteen Years Later

"Hey Amber, how's it going?" Amber jumped and turned, smiling small at Trevor as he climbed up onto the roof with her. Amber shrugged and turned back around, looking out over the water while trying to hide the slight blush on her face.

"It's going... I just finished helping set up the new cabin so I'm just resting now." Trevor chuckles and sits next to her, his hand now close to Amber's.

"You and helping around in this village. You should rest and let people help you once in a while." Amber laughs and nods, she hasn't stopped helping people since her and her sisters arrived to the village. She never wants to stop, she fears not being able to anything because stopping means letting her thoughts take over and that leads to darkness. A darkness she and many others know, one that you can't escape once it sets its claws into you.

"Let people help me for once? Why should I do th-?" Amber's eyes widen as Trevor kisses her mid-sentence. He pulls back, a part of Amber wanting him to continue.

"I love you Amber-Rose. I want to always be with you and protect you." Amber nods and smiles wide, her face a bright red now along with Trevor's.

"Y-You love me?"

"Yes! I have always loved you Amber! You are the greatest woman there is in this world!" Trevor leaned in and kissed her again, both of them smiling madly at one another.

"Hey! Love birds! It's time to eat dinner!" Kelsey calls from the street, waving both her arms and smiling up at them. Amber blushes more and stands up from the roof. Trevor stands up with her and helps her back onto the street, Kelsey already gone. Trevor wraps Amber's hand in his and walks her back home, both of them still smiling.

"See you tomorrow?" Amber turned as they reached her home, smiling at him.

"Y-Yeah." Her smile was one of the many reasons Trevor fell for her, it made his heart flutter like never before. Amber nodded and walked into her home, still smiling wide while Trevor walked back to his own home.

"So how'd it go with your boyfriend?" Amber jumped as Elizabeth confronted her at the door.

"He is not my boyfriend!" Elizabeth gave Amber her 'Uh-huh sure' look and walked into the living room. She sat at the table next to Kelsey, the middle child, who was smiling at Amber as well. "He's not!" Kelsey just nodded and began to distribute the food onto the plates as Amber walked over and sat down. They ate dinner mostly in silence, jokes made about Amber and Trevor coming up here and there just to annoy Amber.

After dinner Amber got to work cleaning the kitchen and keeping herself busy around the house while Elizabeth, or Liz as her friends called her, and Kelsey got ready for bed. Amber always disliked sleeping, it brought her deepest thoughts to life and reminded her why they were in this village instead of back at home. Sadly there wasn't much to do around the house since Kelsey and Elizabeth weren't messy people and cleaned up after themselves so Amber soon had to go to her room and lie down in bed.

"Night guys."

"Night Amber."

"Night Liz."

"Night Kelsey."

Crack! Fire. Crack! Flesh burning. Crack! Death. Crack! Screaming.

"Amber!" Her eyes flew open as Liz screamed for her. Liz screamed again for her, barely audible over the sound of wood crackling.

"Liz?!" Amber covers her face from the flames as she pushes through the hallway towards Liz and Kelsey's room. The ceiling collapses behind her, extreme pain filling her back. She lets out a scream and falls to the ground, Kelsey and Liz ahead of her in the hallway.
