Zoey: "Something wrong?" I smile at Onii-chan as he makes sure my face is covered. He is so kind to me, always making sure I am safe.

"Nothing's wrong Onii-chan." Onii-chan nods and sits back.

"There, all done. How does mine look?" I readjust some of the cloth that covers his face, making sure he can see through the slits made for his eyes.

"Perfect." Onii-chan nods and we stand in the small crevice of the cave. "I am going to go talk to Liz. Is that okay Onii-chan?" Onii-chan nods to me.

"Stay inside the cave though. You are not allowed to leave got it?" I nod and run off.

"Thanks Onii-chan!" I go through the cave until I finally find Liz, in one of the larger sections where some light comes in. I like to sit in the middle so the light comes down onto me, I can see everything moving around from the top of the cave to the bottom. "Hey Liz!" I sit down next to Liz and grab her hand.

"Hey Zoey. What are you up to today?" I shrug, every day in this cave is the same too me.

"Being bored, again." Liz lets out a small laugh and motions for me to sit on her lap. "There is nothing to do here." I plop down onto her lap.

"I know but that doesn't mean we should let boredom take over!" Liz smiles and shifts in the wheelchair. "I was going to save this for a little bit later but I got something for you." My eyes light up as Liz pulls out a small notebook and pencil, handing them to me.

"Thank you so much Liz! You are the best!" I hug her and quickly go to the middle of the room, sitting in the light and opening the small notebook. I twirl the pencil in my hand. "Where'd you get this Liz?" I look up at Liz who smiles back at me.

"I asked Kali to pick it up at the village yesterday. It will keep you from being bored."

"What will I write about though?" I put the eraser end of the pencil into my mouth and bite down while I think about what to write about. Definitely not anything with love in it, gross. Maybe some poems? Action? Oh mystery would be fun to write!

"You could write about your life." I take the pencil out of my mouth and look back up to Liz.

"About my life?" Liz nods.

"Yes. Like from now until you are an old lady." I laugh, not that her idea wasn't good but because I pictured myself as an old lady.

"I guess but I am also going to write a mystery book." Liz nods, thinking about what I suggested.

"That's a good idea. You'll have to promise to let me read it though okay?"

"You got it!" I smile and begin to write my story.

The Mystery Of The Night Owl

by Zoey Draconic

Chapter 1

It was a cool evening as Detective Thomson sat in his small house. He sighed and took a sip of the tea his wife left for him before she went to bed. Thomson had just been assigned to a new case, one that would prove to be a tough nut to crack.

"Something wrong dear?" Thomson's wife stood in the doorway leading to the living room. He loved his wife and knew that she cared about him as well.

"Just a new case dear." His wife nodded and began to make her way upstairs when Thomson called out to her. "I'll be up in a few minutes dear." Thomson rubbed his temples and drank the rest of the tea before making his way upstairs.

"You seem really into that book Zoey." I jump as Liz's voice pierces through my train of thought.

"Want to read some Liz?" Sitting up, I close the book and put the pencil between my ear and head. Liz nods and holds out her hand for the book, unable to get up herself. Nervousness runs through my veins as I hand Liz the notebook. What will she say about it? Will she hate it? I really hope she likes it... The nervousness grows as Liz seems to read the passage over a trillion times.
