George: "What the hell are we actually doing?" I whisper to Samantha as Logan limps ahead of us. She turns to me with a look in her eyes as if I just told her I killed a puppy.
"We're getting out of here! What else could we be doing George?" Her voice echoed down the hallway causing Logan to turn towards us.
"Put your flashlights to 'Scavenge Mode'." Samantha and I quickly set our flashlights and looked up at Logan who limped back towards us. "Shoot any soldiers you see. None of them can be allowed to report back to base." We nod. Great George let this guy take control! What is Samantha going to think of you now?
"Thank you so much Mr. Clarke." Samantha smiles and flashes her eyelashes a little too violently.
"We aren't out of the woods yet sweetheart." Sweetheart?! How dare this son-of-a-bitch call my girl a sweetheart!
"We will make it through Samantha. I promise." I smile at Samantha and puff out my chest. She smiles but quickly turns back to Logan. "Do you even know where we're going?" I roll my eyes as I speak. Logan turns and begins to limp ahead, calling back to answer my question as he limps forward.
"We are going to Bridge Haven."
"Bridge Haven?! Are you nuts? That is a war zone!" I grab Logan by the shoulder and turn him to face me. This guy has to be insane!
"It'll be easier to hide from the Nightlock Empire in one of its enemies cities."
"Have you heard the stories about what happens there? Rape, murder, the whole nine yards!" Logan sighs and turns around, continuing to limp down the hallway.
"Those are all just stories to deter people from the city besides, I have to get to Bridge Haven. You don't have to come with my you know." I gulp as Samantha runs to catch up with Logan. Running from the Nightlock Empire? Me? I may hate this guy but I have to stay with him...
"What happens i-" We're thrown to the ground as an explosion rocks the hallway, debris falling from the already dilapidated ceiling. "We got to run! Now!" I quickly got to my feet and help Samantha up as more debris falls from the ceiling around us.
"What's going on?" Logan winces has he gets up and tries to keep up with Samantha and my pace.
"I forgot about the suits!"
"Suits?"
"Yes! The soldier's suits can be set to explode once a soldier dies!" Another explosion rocked the hallway, Logan fell and let out a cry as the metal went deeper into his leg. Samantha let go of my hand and ran to Logan, struggling to help him up. "Come on! We have to go!" Samantha put Logan's arm around her shoulder and helped him limp forward. Aiming my Nightfall rifle ahead we continued down the hallway. By the time the third explosion went off we were prepared and barely fazed.
"George we need to get him medical help..." Samantha puts Logan down and helps him lean against one of the walls of debris.
"I will carry him. We can't stop here." Samantha nods and unslings her Nightfall rifle. I sling mine on my back and prop Logan up so more weight is on his left leg instead of his wounded right leg. "Tell me when you need to rest for a little bit okay?" Logan nodded as we started to continue our way to the exit. If things came to it we would have to leave him here... Samantha would argue at first but she would see reason at some point.
"We're almost at the exit George." Samantha smiles as she turns and shows me me our location. 30 meters from the exit isn't too far but a lot can happen in 30 meters. We continue at our slow pace towards the exit and are so close I can taste the daylight when Logan says he need to rest. Goddammit Logan! If it weren't for you we would be out of here by now!
"Need anything?" Samantha sits down next to Logan and pulls out a canteen of water, offering it to him.
"No thanks." He smiles weakly at Samantha. She blushes and drinks from the canteen before putting it away and walking towards me. I look at the mapping device, our location shown by a red dot.
"Once he's done resting we'll get out of here." I smile and look at Samantha. She nods and motions to Logan.
"He really needs medical attention."
"We will get him it when we reach the nearest town." Samantha nods and sits back down next to Logan. I look back at the map, trying to seem like I don't care she is sitting next to Logan. I can't believe she likes him! I have known her way longer and all of a sudden she is attached to this Logan guy? Seems shady to me. Wait a minute... What if Logan is working with the Nightlock Empire! That would explain why he was down here!
"We're ready." I turn and look at Logan, arm around Samantha's shoulder. In thirty minutes we reach the exit and step into the sunlight. "We made it out!" I nod as Samantha and Logan continue on ahead of me. I keep a distance from Logan and Samantha, watching Logan's every move. By night time we made it into the forest and were nearing Bridge Haven. You know what has to be done George. Oh how I knew what had to be done. Before we got any closer to Bridge Haven, Logan Clarke would take his last breath. I let the thought of killing him reside in my mind as we continue to walk through the woods, a smile now on my face.
