I stare in approval at my soon to be my place of rest. Not to shabby for a tree trunk, I think as I look around to small-ish decorated dig out. In the far corner is a unmade bed made completely of un-sanded down wood and covered by thin cloth that looks as if it were made from a dress. In the corner closes to where I am is a rickety looking chair, that you couldn't pay me to sit on. 'Loveday' takes a seat in the unstable chair making it creek loudly but that doesn't seem to phase her in the slightest. She picks a dirty looking pillow that has a hedgehog resting in the centre of it, casually,
"naughty hedgehog-" she scolds the sleeping ball of spines, holding it up to her face, "-always sleeping on my favourite pillow" she continues to the creature. Yup, it's official this woman is loopy.
I glance away, not wanting her to catch me staring at the intimate moment she seems to be having with the rodent. A medium sized snake that's curled up on a pillow catches my attention. It takes me back for a second, I've never seen a snake before I had assumed they would be a lot bigger. The crazy lady must have sensed my unease, and makes a try to make me feel less intimidated by the legless lizard that seems way to peaceful,
"don't worry she's just as scared as you are" she sooths as she picks the beast up and looks into its eyes,
"I don't know if that's true" I reply, the snake seems at complete ease,
"oh-" she says, taken back as if she had forgotten I am here at all, "-I was talking to the snake" she finishes. Yep, defiantly insane. "come over here" she beckons me over to a mirror on the wall, I oblige and cringe at the sight of my messy hair is this why she wanted to show me the mirror? To mock my looks? Well, compared to her near perfect skin, perfectly plump peach lip, long lashes and big green eyes anyone would look like a garbanzo bean!
I don't really listen as she talks to the mirror, not really caring what the crazy lady wants to discus with a mirror I'm too insecure about my face to care. I watch as my face fades and is replaced with the mansion, what daa fuck is she snow white now? I suck in my breath as the moon sends out a blinding white light across the valley destroying everything in its path,
"you saw something didn't you!? didn't you?" Loveday says with an emotion I cant quite place, what is it with mirrors?! First Wrolf's a lion and now the moons an ass hole,
"I-I have to go" I stutter and make a run for the door before she can stop me.
I hear her shouting after me by name as I run closer and closer to the mansion, I don't look back though. I run straight past Miss Heliotrope, who is stuffing her face with charcoal tablets like always, up to my room.
I flop on to my bed and scream into my pillow, why does everything have to change? I wish more then anything in the world that I could just go back to a time where I didn't have to worry about stupid things, like being kidnapped by bandits, drugged by chefs, insulted by the beauty of a crazy homeless lady who talks to mirrors. Am I just going crazy? I heard stress can do that to someone.
Sighing, I get up and change into night wear. I need a good sleep.
I stare up at the intricate designs on the celling, it must of taken someone ages to paint it in so much detail that the stars even look to be twinkling. Personally I don't really like stars, people act as if they're some sort of precious gift to be treasured. But to me all they are, are balls of fire that, like many people, look good from a far. I watch as a star shots from its previous place off the ceiling all together. I follow it to out the window where a start can be seen shooting across the sky. What's wrong with me?
