* Bailey’s POV *

There are two main things that could happen when you sleep; either you can have a good dream or a nightmare. Or you could be that person who doesn’t have any at all, just the normal blank mind.

And I wish I’d have the latter one instead.

Who could have thought I’d be having a dream and a nightmare at the same time? And worse, I’m not even sleeping.

As I was entering the bookstore on a supposed to be fine Sunday, my eyes caught a glimpse of Jaq behind the front desk, with Xander helping her out.

Is this for real? Am I walking into a dream or a nightmare? Either way, this is all too freaky.

Maybe this was still an effect from that hangover I had yesterday. Note to self: don’t give in to alcohol, especially if you just wanted to impress someone out.

Okay, so maybe the reason why I drank it in the first place was because I heard one of the girls’ said that John liked his girls in an adventurous way, and that sort of clicked in my head. Maybe I’m a bit too innocent for him and he would get boring in the near future. I’m already used to his ways, his presence, and that would surely be something that I wouldn’t want to lose. He already have this special place in my heart, I have to admit.

Then there’s me who simply wanted to fit in and have more friends that I didn’t work with. But then again, knowing they were Jaq’s friends, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t like me in their group. Come on, what would I even offer them?

“Good morning, Bailey!” Xander snapped me out of my thoughts as he noticed me punching my time in. “Are you feeling better?”

I nodded. “Yeah, thanks. Good morning.” I uttered as I laid my bag under my worktable.

“Hey, I’m not sure if you guys were introduced before.” Xander trailed off. “Jaq, this is Bailey. Bailey, this is Jaq.” He continued on, pointing us to one another. “She’s going to replace Jessica for the meantime.”

“Oh okay.” I shrugged, and continued on my work, checking in if there were any orders that came up this morning.

Ella, one of the other girls that work during my shift, was already arranging the new books that came in last night on their respective shelves, while Xander continued on explaining the whole process to Jaq on the other side of the table. We were both manning the front desk and cashier.

“Surprise, surprise!” My phone beeped and as I checked, a message popped up from Xavier. “How’s your morning, Princess?”

Of course, Xavier would be the first one who would know about this. “You knew about this and didn’t tell me?”

“Is it bad that I wanted to see your reaction first?” And I could imagine him smirking right now while his posse laughing evilly behind him. I watch way too much TV.

“You’re so mean!” In my mind, I pouted, though I knew he could be watching me right now. I’m still quite unsure how he does it. Come on, there are different types of customers here every single time. The only one I’m familiar with was Chase but he doesn’t come often.

“Now, now, princess… Isn’t this a good thing? You’re one step closer to bringing her to me.” Yeah, I guess he’s right.

All these times, I have been wondering how will I start off with the plan of capturing her to bring her to Xavier, but now that first plan has been laid out in front of me, without doing anything.

It would have been better if the next parts would also be given, and I could just get away with it.

“Bailey…” Xander tapped me on the shoulder, making my heart beat faster. I was rather shocked by that contact. Apparently, the two have been calling my name but I ended up way too focused on work, or planning that ‘Operation: Kidnap Jaq’ movement.
