What Would Happen?

Part 2: Shock

We all stared in awe at the sight of smoke. Somehow, I could feel a vibe almost shouting 'special abilities'. I sat there, trying to figure out what this was trying to say while everyone else ran, except for us. Barry screamed like a girl.

"What's going on?" Ashton was clueless. I opened my mouth ready to speak, but no words came out. This reminded me of the time when Veronica and I almost got killed. They had thrown grenades and hid bombs. But this. It was different. These people weren't targeting large crowds.  They were targeting people with abilities.

I didn't want my friends to get hurt but we had to save the city that we lived in. Not for just the people but so we can try our best to live normal lives. But having normal loves also meant controlling our abilities.

"You guys. You know what to do," Amber said with a smirk.

"Alright then. I was getting angry at Ashton so I needed something to punch. These guys came  right on time," I said, trying not to panic.

"I must do it to protect my dear Jisoo!" Leyna was pretty determined.

Ethan and Noah were pretty quiet. Noah rushed over to his backpack opening it and shuffling through it.

"Noah, what the hell are you doing?" I was a little curious to what he was going to get.

"I'm getting food for us. We can't kick ass on empty stomachs, now can we?"Noah sounded very confident that we would win against these guys. 

"Hey, Ashton pig. Turn into a dragon so we can go over to bombed area. Might as well be a pig dragon. And Veronica. Could you please writ a note saying that all of us are gonna be gone for a few weeks. You're the fastest at writing so I'm counting on you." I said.

"I don't understand why you use manners in front of Veronica and not me." Ashton protested.

"For one, i hate you. For two, you are only 'kind' to the others. This doesn't matter right now. We have to found out who did this and stop them." I made it sound easier said than done. I knew it was going to be one hell of a challenge but what else could we do? We couldn't let our families get hurt. Leyna only has Lasay and we still have others we care about.

Ethan ran toward us with a worried look on his face."You guys. There is something bad going on at the front gate. Besides the bombing, that is."

"What is it?" I asked concerned about the situation.

"A strange man just shot Mr. Niejima and Mrs. Kuraine. They thought he was sketchy-looking so the tried yielding him from entering the school. Fortunately, they aren't fatal wounds but here's some interesting news. He shouted the word 'abilities' after he shot them."

Ashton's eyes widened but Veronica just lost all hope. Not like the dropping-to-the-ground losing hope but like-an-idiot losing hope. She raised her arms are said "Welp. We're screwed."

Barry gave her the evil eye and said in a deep voice "Watch yo profanity!"

We all laughed for a moment but Amber reminded us that now wasn't the time. I walked over to my backpack in search of my phone. I started searching for the exact location of the bombing but something got in my way. A blocked number? Who could it be? I picked it up and turned it on speaker. A mysterious voice muttered the same words over and over again. 'Perish. Abilities. Consume. Perish. Abilities. Consume.' Just these words gave us shock but after a few moments, it became worse. 'Ashton. Amber. Marissa. Veronica. Barry. Leyna. Ethan. Noah.' I dropped my phone and started to step back from fear. Why is it that they're targeting a small group of teenagers like us? Why? WHY?
