Barry's POV:
After the incident with the city, police had started getting worried about who did it, the demolishing that is. Of course, the government and a whole group of detectives were brought together. They eventually found some of our trash, such as the gummy wrapper, Marissa's hair tie, a piece of my burnt textbook and what not. They searched everything, even the entire building that Coulson died in. We had to keep our profiles low for a few months before anyone would get suspicious. The group of detectives went through the whole town and questioned anybody, including schools and universities. When they finally found the guy Marissa named "Mr. Sadist", they put the blame all on him since he was near an unknown substance filled with bacteria that could potentially destroy the whole human race, as the news article said. Eventually, the corpses were discovered and taken into a lab to conduct a heavy study on why virus crystallized when meeting with oxygen and flesh. Ultimately, the case wasn't solved even though they found the ugly dude.
Other than that, most of us have made it into our dream colleges. Veronica got into a writing school, Leyna and I have gone into the business industry, Ashton had become a cinematographer, Marissa went to an art school majoring in singing but switched to drawing, and Ethan got into Stanford to learn Medicine. Amber on the other hand is also still searching for what she wants to do so she's just taking random courses until she finds something to her liking.
Now then, let's be serious here and move onto their love life, if they've made progress.
Marissa's POV:
We're in our second year of college and it kinda sucks but its also kinda fun. For the first year in singing class, I got credits that were just slightly better than average but then switched my major to drawing. Next year, I'm planning to go to law school because I know the success rate of becoming a good manga artist or animator is less than 40%. So I'll be a lawyer.
Just a few months ago, I conveyed my true feelings to Ethan. I told him the harsh truth that he and I always waited to face. I couldn't fall for him once more. He was okay with it though. His eyes held a glum look but he smiled and wished a happy future. Since he was so sad, I slapped his back about five times and smiled to say the same thing he wished me.
"Sorry I couldn't let you keep your own promise." I smiled painfully.
I still haven't told the others. They'd all scold me and ask why and they'd bother the hell out of me. I figured that making Ethan wait all the time would make him hurt on the inside. Each passing day, he was desperately waiting for me to say something so maybe it was better to make him stop waiting and let him move on. I'll probably get over it but it'll be another 5 years 'till I properly fall for someone. If they heard me say this they all would be saying things like "What on Earth are you saying!? You were destined for each other!!" Well, unfortunately, I'm sorry that you are all wrong. You can't see what your fate is until you choose your own path.
That's just how the world works.
but if that's not how it works, then
What Would Happen?
--------
I drew what I thought Marissa would look like after four years. She cut her hair and she stopped wearing her scarf and designer brand, teal shirt. Just jeggings and skinny jeans and comfortable shirts. Also, thank you for reading my story. And for those of you who don't know me irl, thanks a million!!!
