What Would Happen?

Part 5: Battle

Amber and I got ready to fight while everyone protested behind the barrier. The sadist kept on cackling so much that it struck one of my nerves. I got really pissed. Both Amber and I took of our bags and gently placed them on the ground. I didn't have a bow or a gun so I knew it was going to be harder to face this psycho. Then again, I can't even name one piece used to make a gun. Fortunately, in 8th grade, I trained myself for defense, abilities-wise of course. I trained myself to quickly make walls and barriers. Surely, it would come in handy since I have a close-range weapon. Using a spear meant that I had to use agility and speed. Amber, on the other hand, is actually an all-round fighter so I think she's good. If she mixes her fighting technique with her power to control the weather, it may look like she's the avatar.

Leyna, who was in the barrier, tried using her pyrokinesis against the rain water. It looks like she had planned to evaporate the water but I think Amber kept closing up the hole. It started draining Amber's energy after a while. In a split second, Amber went from closing up holes to punching Mr.Sadist. I tried my best running but it was way too hard running in flats and with a shot ankle. I quickly switched to my P.E. shoes. I ran to the back of him to do a surprise attack, but he quickly sensed my presence. I then acted as a decoy for Amber to come up with a plan to attack. The sadist and I were at it for 2 minutes. Amber took a while to come up with a good strategy. While fighting him, I tried kicking his head but his head moved so I pretty much just flicked his long, silver hair with my foot. I saw that he had an earpiece. Mr. Sadist suddenly jumped a safe distance away from Amber and I and pressed his earpiece. He then replied with "Yes sir." Was he receiving orders? "The dear master has ordered me back to his side. Just so know, you stupid children, I will be coming back. HAHHAHAHHHA!"

"Tch, he got away." I murmured. Amber soon dropped the barrier surrounding everyone else. It seems that Ethan was finally awake. When I looked at everyone, they all stared at me. Was it because of the weapon thing? Probably, since it was the first time I've done it in front of them. I forgot they could see through the barrier since it was made out of water. Amber was the only one not wide-eyed since I've sparred with her several times (and lost). Veronica ran over and snatched the staff out of my hand and inspected it.

"Guys...It's made of pure ice!"Veronica announced.

"DA FLIP? IS YOU BRAIN DEAD? OF COURSE IT'S MADE OUT OF ICE! MY POWER IS ICE !" I shouted into Veronica's ear. "Did you guys underestimate me that much?" Barry was the only one who nodded. I was angrier at everyone else more than Barry because he actually admitted it. SIIIIIGGHHH :)

We sooner or later found a shelter to hide in. I remembered that we didn't inform our families about anything so I took out my phone and tried to call them. No one picked up. Even if they did pick up, what was I gonna say? Tell them I'm in another city trying to fight terrorists? I didn't even tell them about my powers. I've been keeping it a secret for years. I tried calling Veronica's family but no one picked up. Was Gran-gran sleeping? Whatever. It's not like I'd know. I put my phone back and got up.

"Hey, you guys. We should search for food while we have the time. We don't know when the next attack will be so the best time to eat would probably be know.  It's a good thing we chose to be in the food court of a mall. I'm gonna go check if they have ingredients to cook with." I said.

"I'll get snacks and preserve them. The amount that I usually have with me isn't enough for everyone." Amber replied.

"Leynah and I will go get bandages for Marissa.  Ethan will help Marissa by finding things to cook and Barry will find snacks." Veronica announced.

"What about me? What do I do?" Alex asked.

"You can come up with a strategy for when we fight." Leyna said and smiled positively. They all set off to find their supplies and "survival essentials."

Ahhhhhh, GODDAMMIT! VERONICA YOU SNEAKY LITTLE.. Why did you pair me up with Ethan!? Whatever.

"Ethan, could you please look for the ingredients? My foot hurts so it needs rest." I said as I exhaustedly limped over to a bench. "Try getting carrots, bell peppers, pork, eggs, hoison sauce, and some black pepper.  Remember when choosing the pork to always for the most pink colored meat."

"...What?" Ethan asked dumbfounded.

"Are you stupid? Never mind. I'll write it down. Can you get me my bag." I said, slightly blushing. A few minutes later everyone arrived back at the food court. I started cooking and cutting up the ingredients. I then plated it and gave it to everyone in plastic containers. We all started to eat but then I noticed that it had a lack of flavor. Shit..! I didn't put any salt in it! Oh well. At least hoisin sauce has strong flavoring.

"Hey Marissa! We have antiseptic and bandages. Fortunately enough, we found cast somewhat like a brace for your ankle." Veronica said as she brought over the supplies.

"We know you don't have a sprained ankle but the cast is for keeping your foot in a firm position."Leyna continued.

Amber came over to help me bandage my ankle. After we were done eating, Ashton went over the details with us for the next fight. Ashton's plan was to use Ethan as a decoy since he heals up really quickly. We would all hide in small spaces like under rocks or destroyed buildings and attack out of no where. I got really lost after he said something about him turning into a dragon and doing a 360 no-scope with him shooting fire balls instead of bullets. Amber would then have to surround the enemy with clouds and then Barry shooting lightning bolts everywhere. I don't remember the rest since Ashton's explanations are the absolute worst.

Once Ashton was done explaining, I tried to get up and move around but the god damned ankle kept me from doing so. Amber and Veronica exchanged glances with me. They then demanded Ethan to take the bullet out and heal me.

"Hey, I'm not your dog, y'know." Ethan said.

"Yeah, yeah" Amber said.

"Wait! Excuse me, can you please heal me too?" a raspy voice called out.

We all looked around trying to search for the voice calling out to us.

"Please!" the voice called out once more. *clink clink screech*"AAHHHH!"
