The next morning I woke up and was eager for Marianna to come pick me up. I got ready and wore my shirt ALL I NEED IS A FRIEND TO STAND BY ME. This message was meant for Nick. After I ate a quick breakfast, Marianna came for me. I grabbed my backpack and ran after her.

"Day two Vanessa. You ready."

"I'm more than ready."

When we arrived at school of course there they were at the entrance together. There was something even worse about today. They were holding hands. The pain was trying to sneak back in but I fought it back. I turned away immediately. I thought of Oscar and those two slipped my mind.

"Keep going my warrior. Stay tough."

She didn't know I was starting to crush on Oscar but she'll find out soon enough.

I turned to Marianna and gave her a high five. She was the best.

We had twenty minutes before school so we met up with the squad. Oscar was there so I went to high five him. Of course he faked me out with a dab which made me feel stupid. I gave him a soft push and he grabbed my hands. I looked into his eyes and they were sparkling like yesterday. A few seconds passed and he let go. We turned back to the group who were staring away like they hadn't seen a thing.

Marianna gave me a playful look and I laughed.

Once the bell rang for first period we split and I headed for science. We were getting new seats and I was begging I wasn't with him.

"Take all your stuff and stand against the wall," announced Mr. Jay, our science teacher.

I grabbed my stuff and stood on the tiles. Nick grabbed his stuff and stood by me.

"About yesterday, I didn't mean it like that."

"Nick I could care less about what you say to me now. If you will excuse me, I'm waiting for my seat."

With these words he backed off looking a little hurt. I could care less how he felt. When he was near me or spoke to me my heart turned hard as stone and blocked all feelings out surrounding him. Oscar saw this and he stood between us. Oscars feelings were blocking Nick's out so Oscar could stay in the sunlight. I looked at Oscar and gave him a thank you look. He gave me a your welcome look back.

As Mr. Jay was announcing seats I heard my name. I eagerly sat down seeing Jasmine and Mike were sitting at my table. We were just waiting for the last person. This last person was next to me. At the table next to us was Oscar Richard John and Sophia. She had been singled out. Poor her. I looked at Oscar seeing his seat was closest to mine. I wish he was at the seat next to me.

While me and Jasmine were speaking, I heard the name sitting at the seat next to me. I froze in panic as the words left Mr. Jay's mouth," Nick, you will be sitting next to Vanessa."

The moment those words came out I clammed up. Out of all people he was sitting next to me. When Oscar heard this he looked upset. I felt him. I knew he didn't want Nick to take the spotlight again. He gave me a look and I gave him one back. That reassured him. As Nick reached the table I looked away as well as Jasmine. Mike greeted him and I gave him a nasty look. Quickly, Mike looked away too. The three of us looked up at the screen and began the work while Nick settled in.

As I waited for the dreaded class to end he asked," Hey can I talk to you after class?"

"No I have to meet Mari and get to History."

"Can't you spare a minute?"

"Not for you."

At that moment Jasmine and Mike looked away and packed there things as the bell rang.

I grabbed my stuff and left quickly before he left his shocked/hurt stage. I found Marianna and we hurried to History. Oscar ran after us and he walked with us to history.
