I wake up the next morning and Kari is still sound asleep. I slide out of bed, and go into the bathroom. I throw my hair in a pony tail, clean my face, and go to the closet. I pull out a pair of black pants, a light blue tank top, and a grey cardigan. I pull down a coral pink dress from the closet. It's material is almost too soft to touch. It flows all the way to the floor, with a beautiful white pearl trimming aroud all of the seams. The dress sleeves go past your elbow, and finish with a bow at each end. I lay the dress across the bed for Kari, and leave the room. I head to Loki's room, open the door slightly, and see he is still asleep. I creep across the room and slide onto the bed. I wrap my arms around him and kiss his forehead.
"Morning, my love. How did the Lady Kari sleep?" He yawns and smiles.
"She is still fast asleep. I laid her a dress out, but I wanted to see you. Sorry about last night, everything seems to be a mess. Did you find out anything?"
"Do not be sorry. You were right to worry for your friend. And Odin has had another complaint on a guard recently, he believes it to be him. When I left for bed last night, Odin was speaking with him in the throne room. Thor was standing by. We do not tolerate anyone hurting a Lady."
"Well look at you, sounding like a gentlemen." I say in a southern accent. He chuckles. I mean forward and kiss him sweetly, bringing my hand to his cheek and running my fingers through his hair. I slowly pull away and place a small kiss on his nose. "I'm gonna go check on Kari. I'll see you in a bit at breakfast."
"OK, my love." He stretched and yawns as I'm leaving the room.
"I'm pretty sure that was the cutest thing he has ever done." I whisper to myself as I head back to my room. I go in and Kari is sitting up, looking around sleepily. "Good morning." I smile at her.
"Morning Lady Sarah. I do not remember going to bed here." She giggles.
"Well, you were super tired. I brought you something to wear." I smile pointing to the dress. She pulls it to her and gasps.
"Sarah, I cannot take this. You have already let me wear this lovely nightgown."
"Trust me, by wearing that, you're doing me a huge favor." I laugh. There is a knock at the door. "Here, go to the bathroom and change." I say as she scurries into the bathroom and shuts the door. I open the door and Thor waltz's in.
"Lady Sarah, where is the Lady Kari?"
"She is getting dressed, what's going on?"
"The All-Father wishes to speak with her about last night's events."
"OK, I will take her to the throne room in just a moment."
"I am sorry lady Sarah, she must go alone."
"Well I'm gonna stand by the door." I state, folding my arms over my chest.
"Will you not join us to break the fast?"
"Not until she is done."
"Very well." He says, nods and leaves the room.
"What was that about lady Sarah?" Kari asks from the bathroom.
"You are wanted in the throne room." She comes out and we head toward the throne room. "They aren't gonna let me go in there with you. Listen, be strong, be brave. He can't hurt you anymore. Just be honest, and be yourself. You will do just fine. I'll be here waiting when you get through." She nods and heads into the room. Two guards stand at the door. I walk to the opposite wall, and lean on it. I sit down finally, and try to be patient.
"My love, why are you on the floor? I thought you were coming to break fast?" Loki says as he slides down the wall next to me.
"I've been waiting on Kari. She's in there with Odin."
"You care for the lady Kari quite a bit."
"I don't know what it is, there's just something about her."
"She reminds me of your friend, Wanda." Loki states.
"That's it! I've been trying to figure that out this whole time. She's become a really good friend." I smile and take his hand in mine. I lean against his shoulder, and just take in this moment. He smells like vanilla, and his hands are slightly rough but have some small soft spots. I see the door open and I shoot up from the ground. Kari steps out and you can see that she's been crying a little. I walk to her. "How did it go?"
"I had to face him Lady Sarah... The All-Father would like to see you."
"Me?" I whisper. I look back at loki and then to Kari. I go into the throne room and walk to the steps. I see someone sitting in one of the seats on the floor. My guess is thats the guard. I have to keep my compose. I bow slightly, and look to Odin.
"You wished to speak with me, sir?"
"Ah yes, Lady Sarah. I want to know why you were in the kitchen last night."
"I went to say goodnight to Kari and I was going to have a glass of hot tea. It calms my nerves."
"And why did you want to see the Lady Kari?"
"She has become a friend to me since I came here."
"And when you entered what was she doing?"
"She was scrubbing the floor."
"What gave you the impression something was wrong?"
"She barely spoke and she didn't smile. She always smiles. She's a very sweet girl. When I got down on the floor to look at her, she was bleeding and dirty."
"That is all I need to know. You are dismissed, Lady Sarah." I look back at the guard as I leave the room. He smirks at me, and it took everything in me not to lunge at him. I go out the door and Kari and Loki are waiting on me.
"So?" Loki asks.
"I'm not sure what Odins going to do. It took a lot for me not to beat the shit out of that guard though." I say as I link my arm through Loki's.
"I guess I should go back to work." Kari smiles.
"We will walk you there." I say, nudging Loki. She goes to the kitchen and gets lunch started. Loki and I head back to my room.
"The amount of care you have for people is astonishing." He says as he wraps his arms around my waist, looking down at me.
"I learned that from my mom. I mean, you did hear my speech I gave to two giant rocks." I chuckle.
"Why yes, I did. And I am sure those "rocks" enjoyed every word." He smiles.
"You know, you haven't really told me about your mom..." I whisper.
"Well, she was one of the most brave people I have ever met. She cared, so much, for everyone... And.." And he sigh.
"That's good honey, we don't have to talk about her right now. She sounds wonderful. Jane told me what she did for her, and ever day she says that she thinks of Frigga. She said that Frigga is her hero."
"You know Lady Jane?"
"Of course, she consults with shield. We used to meet all the time. She was over seas on a project when we left."
"You are just full of surprises." He chuckles.
"I'll take that as a compliment." I giggle. I place my feet on top of his shoes, and lean forward to kiss his cheek. I keep forgetting how tall he is. He picks me up and sits ms on the bed.
"Did you sleep much last night?" He looks at me with a stern look.
"Don't look at me like that. You know how hard it is to look at those gorgeous eyes?" I smile.
"Get some rest." He smiles. He kisses me sweetly and leaves. When did I ever get so lucky? But there is still the fact that I have to give Odin an answer concerning my immorality... And I still don't know what to say.. Yes, I would love to spend eternity with Loki. Maybe even have a family, but that means that all of my friends in earth, would die before I even aged a couple of years. Is it worth it?
