Chapter 30

I wake up and have to rush to the bathroom. I have never felt this way. Maybe it's my nerves? I've always been a fairly nervous person. Anxiety is normal for me though, this is different. After I, once again, give my stomach contents to the toilet, I wash my mouth and look in the mirror. I jumo back a small bit as I see a sleepy Loki standing behind me, rubbing his eyes.
"You can't just sneak up on me like that." I say, catching my breathe.
"Are you alright, my love? This has happened quite often." He says through a yawn.
"Im not sure honey. I think it's my anxiety. I just really don't want you guys to go.." I whisper, realizing that I'm not lying. I don't want him to go. I don't want any of them to go.
"My love, we will not be gone long." He says as he rubs my shoulders.
"That doesnt help any. I don't want you guys going at all. And if you go, I need to go with you." I state.
"You are not feeling well, you must stay and rest."
"When are you leaving?"
"This afternoon."
"What? Please don't go.." I try to hold back the tears. I don't know why, but I have a terrible feeling about all of this..
"My love, what has gotten into you? Is something the matter?" He says turning me around to face him.
"I just, I have a bad feeling about all of this. The same feeling I had when I found Cassie... And.."
"Oh, Sarah. That is not going to happen. We will all be back before you know it."
"Promise me?"
"I promise, that I will come back to you. We all will. And we will begin planning our wedding." He whispers in my ear.
"I love you." I smile, trying to be positive.
"I love you too, Sarah. Promise you will not torture the All-Father with questions while I am away?"
"Oh, but then he would miss me." I chuckle. He wraps me in a hug and kisses my forehead. I hear a knock at my door and Kari comes in.
"Well, I should be off to gather my gear. It has been a while since I have needed it all. I'll see you at the bifrost when we depart?" He smiles, holding my head in his hands.
"Of course." I smiles. He kisses me and leaves the room.
"How are you fairing this morning?" Kari asks.
"It happened again. I'm not sure what's wrong with me." I tell her as I come to sit on the balcony.
"Maybe you should go see our healer? She is very wise." She pats my back, trying to reassure me.
"Maybe. I could go to a doctor on earth also. Maybe I'll do that later today." I smile.
"That is also an option. So, how have you been really feeling Lady Sarah?" She asks, turning my head to look at her, and I let all of it go. I tell her how stressful my jobs are. I tell her how its strange beings here, and I miss being home. I tell her about how I'm now immortal, and I'm still not sure I'm happy with all of that. I tell her how dangerous this mission could be, and that if they all don't come back, I might just lose my shit. I cry and cry and cry. She pulls me into her arms and holds me. "Come Sarah, we must not be late for the departure." She says. She helps me up and I change. We head out to the bridge and they are all suited up. Thor with his hammer, adjusting his grip. Loki with his staff. I have to say, he doesn't look that bad in all the green, now that I think about it. He even pulls off the horns, but I'm never gonna admit that. Like I need to feed his ego. I begin by hugging Fandral and Thor, then giving Sif a tight squeeze, and telling her to keep the guys in line. I come to Loki, who is smiling at me.
"Everything will be alright my Love." He says.
"I'll miss you." I whisper. He pulls me in for a hug. I hold onto him extra tight, knowing it could be a while before he returns. He leans down and kisses me sweetly.
"I will miss you also, my love. Please be safe, no missions while I'm away."
"You take all the fun out of being a super hero." I smile. He kisses me again.
"I will return my love, do not worry. I will always find my way back to you. I make you this promise." He whispers. "I love you, Sarah Laufeyson."
"And I you, Loki Laufeyson." I smile. He kisses my forehead, and heimdall opens the bifrost. Then, I see him look at me one last time as he leaves. They all disappear into the portal, and that's it. It feels like my heart has stopped beating for several minutes. My bad feeling only gets worse with every passing minute.
"Lady Sarah, come. You need to go rest." Kari says ushering me along, bringing me back to the palace. She brings me back to my room, and shuts the door behind us.
"Kari, I don't like this. I mean yes I have not felt well recently, but I feel as if there isn't going to be a good outcome from this..."
"Lady Sarah, I know it is hard to watch him leave. You love him. Being apart from him feels strange, but they will be back in no time. Just give it time." She gives me a hug.
"Thanks Kari, maybe you're right. I just might be overreacting. I think I'm gonna go back to earth and see if I can't get checked out by a doctor. I might just stay there for the night. Get my mind off of all of this. Will you come back and see me in the morning?"
"Of course, Sarah. I shall see you in the morning." She smiles and leaves. I fix my hair and clothes, and teleport to the ship. I land near the training area and find Steve in the workout room.
"Sarah!" He smiles and rushes to hug me. "What are you doing here?"
"I just needed a breather, figured id stay the night and hang with you guys for a minute."
"You know, I can tell when you're lying right?"
"Well, I guess that isn't all of it. Loki and Thor went on a mission to another realm, and its got my nerves all wound up. And I've been sick lately, and was ggonn try and see my doctor, but I hate going to the doctor."
"I'll go with you." He says.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I haven't seen you in a while, it'll give you some time to talk about all of this." He smiles, patting me on the back.
"Well, I guess we better get to my car then." I smile, grabbing his hand, and teleporting us to my car.
"Wow, I forgot about this bad boy." He chuckles. We head to my doctors office and he gets me in for an appointment. I'm actually surprised he did, I normally have to call in first. I guess he could tell something was wrong with me. Steve waits in the waiting room while the doctor finishes with the exam. Checking my throat, eyes, ears, you know the drill.
"So tell me what has been going on with you, Sarah?" Doctor Smith asks.
"Well, I've been getting sick the last couple of days. Just at random almost. Some during the morning, some at night, but the rest of the day I feel fine."
"I see. Well, I'm going to go see if your paper work s done." He steps out for a moment and then comes back in with a clip board. "Have you been sexually active lately?"
"Uh, well yes I have. Why?"
"Well Sarah, it seems that you are pregnant. You are about a month along if my results are correct."
"What? Wait, what did you just say?"
"You're going to have a child, Sarah." He smiles. I don't know what to do. I sit there, frozen. I can't be pregnant. It only happened a couple of times. But, Loki doesn't know! How am I going to tell him? How will he react? I stand up and shake the doctors hand.
"Uh, thanks doc. This is quite a bit to take in at the moment. Am I gonna have to come back soon?"
"Yes, I'll need to schedule you another appointment for gender identification in three months. And you will have another appointment before this at the three month mark for a check up."
"Alright, just call Tasha and explain this all to her please." I say. I walk out of the room and to the waiting area where Steve is. He can see the look on my face, and he knows something is up, but doesn't say anything. We walk slowly and quietly to my car. We drive back to my parking spot and I teleport us back to the ship. I head to my room and he follows me in. I see Wanda and Natasha follow him, I guess they are wondering what's going on.
"Sarah, what did the doctor say?" Steve asks.
"He... He said, that. I'm... Pregnant." I barely get the words past my lips. They all gasp and Wanda smiles.
"This is a great thing Sarah! I just know Loki will be so excited!" She says, giving me a hug.
"You know you're gonna have to tell Nick?" Natasha says.
"Please don't tell him yet. Please. I know its hard keeping a secret from him, trust me. But give me a minute to process this, OK? I'm gonna stay here for the night and go back to Asgard tomorrow. And after Loki returns I'll come back down here."
"Where is Loki?" Natasha asks.
"On a mission with Thor in another realm." Steve says. They can clearly see the concern on my face.
"My lips are sealed." Wanda smiles.
"Yeah, you have our word." Steve says. I give them all a hug and they leave the room. Except for Wanda. She stays and snuggles up next to me. We both fall asleep soon, with me wondering how, I, of all people, was going to be a mother.
