The past few weeks have been nothing short of chaotic. Trying to stay in Asgard and keep up my life on earth is completely exhausting. Most mornings I eat, change into regular clothes, teleport down there and do what I have to do, and then get back in time to shower and snuggle up with my fiancé. Wow. I just called him my fiancé, how strange! It has a nice ring to it. It's gonna be weird to be called Sarah Laufeyson. I like the way it sounds though, which is way too corny and I feel really girlish right now.
"Lady Sarah, have you been listening?" Thor asks and I look up from my daze. I was sort of listening.
"Kind of. This is all new to me. Sorry." I apologize.
"No need for apologys. Heimdall has picked up some of activity in one of the nether realms. He says it is a life form that he knows nothing of." Thor states, clearly flustered by whats going on.
"Is there a way to track these beings?" Fandral asks.
"We are not certain. Heimdall has only limited knowledge on these creatures." Thor says.
"Why do we not just go find them, and take them out?!" Volstagg announces.
"We do not know if they are hostile beings or not." Hugon says.
"Then we state our presence and make sure they stay away from Asgard." Volstagg laughs a hardy laugh. Whenever I said I would be apart of this council, I really didn't know what to expect. Now that I'm at one of my first meetings, it seems like they really aren't very good at mystery solving. They want to use intimidation as a tactic, and that works but not all the time. As they all seem to argue over what they should do, sif leans over and talks to me.
"What do you think, Sarah?"
"Well, I don't think we should just go in swords flying without knowing what we are up against, but at the same time we can't let it go unnoticed. Maybe send out a search team and have them scope out who they are from a distance, and report back with their findings. That way we can see if they are hostile, and plan our attack, or if they arent a threat, then leave them be." At this point I didn't realize everyone had stopped to listen to me.
"The lady Sarah never mentioned she was a natural for battle strategies?" Fandral eyes me.
"Oh, it was mostly just an opinion." I smile.
"Nonsense. The lady is right. I like her plan." Volstagg smiles.
"So who shall we send out?" Sif asks.
"I shall go." Thor states.
"I shall go with you." Fandral says.
"Guys, we can't have everyone go. That's why it's just a search team. It only needs to be a few. Maybe four people at the most. We still have to have some of you here to keep this place running smoothly." I say.
"Will you join us, lady Sarah?" Thor asks.
"I will go in her place." Loki says from the doorway.
"I'm certain I can handle going with them." I laugh.
"You still have your other priorities." He raises a brow at me. And he's right. I hate that.
"It would be nice if you weren't always right." I chuckle as he sits down next to me.
"And I will be the fourth member." Sif says.
"OK then. I'm gonna go speak to heimdall and once I hear what he has to say we can figure out when the best time for you to leave will be." I say.
"Alright everyone, let us go back to our daily duties." Thor states as he leaves the room. I kiss Loki on the cheek and head to the rainbow bridge. I haven't been down here since the day I came, and its still no less than wonderful. I walk over to the bifrost and see heimdall holding his post.
"Good evening, heimdall." I smile.
"The lady Sarah, what brings you here?"
"I just got out of my meeting with the council. We have a plan and I was wondering if there was anything new you could tell me?"
"I cannot tell if they are hostile. I know they have quite a large population. For some reason, I cannot see all of them. I feel as if something is blocking my sight. It is strange."
"Would you like me to try?"
"I am afraid you could hurt yourself."
"Won't know til I get right?"
"If that is your wish." He steps aside and takes my hand. He guides me to the sword and puts both if my hands on it. He holds my hands there, and takes me through the realms from his view. It's all so amazing. I can't even think of a way to actually describe it all. The realm he takes me to is almost baren. It's mostly cold, and dark. The blue and white ice that surrounds the ground causes a misty atmosphere, and a white glare around the place.
"What is this place?" I ask.
"This is Niffleheim. We do not consider it to be a separate realm, for it is closly related to Hel. But this is where I can see the arrival of something new." He states. We navigate through the mist and see a mountain. At the top, we look down and there is a large gathering of beings. I can't tell what they are or who they are, but something doesn't feel right. They are all loud and seemingly aggressive. A monsterous green being stands before them, as if he is giving a speech. "I cannot see who they are. It is as if someone is blocking me from seeing them."
"Well, I can see that they don't look friendly. I have to tell the others, but why would they gather here, of all places?"
"I do not know their intentions nor do I know why they do what they do. All I can see is that they are planning something. Let us hope it is not war." He states as we both let go of the sword. "It is not often I am joined here to watch the realms. You must use this gift you have wisely, Lady Sarah."
"Thanks, I guess. All right, I'll catch you later." I smile and run off. I head to Thor's room and find him instead in the dining hall. Go figure.
"Lady Sarah, did you converse with heimdall?"
"Yes. I saw them. And I don't think this search mission is such a good idea anymore. I know it was my idea to begin with, but after seeing what they look like, they don't appear to be here just to make new friends."
"You saw them?" Sif asks.
"Yes, heimdall showed me."
"How could you see it? Is that not impossible?" Fandral asks.
"Look, I'm not sure about how I can do what I do, but I am definitely sure that going on that search mission is a waste of time. We need to prepare for anything to happen."
"I do trust your judgement Lady Sarah, but we cannot just sit here and wait. We must attack while we have the element of surprise." Vokstagg demands. Ugh. Men.
"He is right, we will still do the search mission, and in the event that we do not return, prepare for war." Thor states through a bit of bread. Is he serious right now? That's a risk that isn't necessary to take. I leave them to finish eating and head back to my room. I'm finally alone. I run to the bathroom and I can't hold back the pile that skills past my lips. Ugh. Something is wrong with me. I'm never this sick.
"Lady Sarah?" Kari says from the bathroom door. "Are you alright?"
"I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I'm not usually sick..." I barely get the words out before I hurl once more. I get up and wipe off my mouth, wash it out, and head back to my bed.
"Maybe you should lie down." Kari smiles.
"Thank you, for being such a friend to me. I can't imagine being in this place without you." I smile.
"I am also glad to have met you, lady Sarah. I shall come check on you in the morning." She smiles, kisses my forehead and leaves. My mind is racing with everything that's happened. I can't let them do this, its too risky. But what can I do? They trust me but they are dead set on doing this mission. He said if they don't come back prepare for war. But I don't want to think of them not coming back... They are my friends and soon to be family. And loki, my love, I can't lose him. I won't lose him. He is the most important thing to me right now. Even over myself. I have to go with them, somehow. Somehow...
