Then Jake came back. He must’ve been feeling awkward with a bunch of girls around him. ‘So,’ I started chatting with him. ‘Any luck on girls yet?’ He shook his head silently. ‘How come?’ Elise said. ‘You look pretty sexy to me.’ He blushed almost like a girl. ‘Don’t worry, Jake, you’ll find one soon.’ Hannah said, smiling. ‘Maybe.’ He spoke.

He was looking very upset at something. ‘Jake, is there something you want to share with us?’ I asked him. ‘Well,’ He started, almost in tears. ‘I asked out a girl that day, but she didn’t reply. She just took my number, saying that she’ll call me later regarding this. That call I had some time ago was hers.’ Then he couldn’t continue. He broke down in tears. Zoey went to hug him. ‘She had rejected such a hot boy like you?!? Like, seriously???’ I exclaimed, outraged. He nodded silently. We all went to grouphug him. He felt better afterwards. ‘We’ll find you a girl then.’ Elise said. ‘Well,’ he said, ‘at least I’m not the only single in here. Louis’ here for me.’ ‘True. He needs someone too.’ I said, remembering how much he liked me. I felt the pain Louis and Jake were having now. I sighed.

Then mum called us for lunch. ‘Liam called me,’ she had informed us. ‘They said that they’ll go straight to the show. They told you guys to meet them in the backstage at 5 o’clock, which is after about two hours from now.’ We nodded and had our lunch.

I stared at Jake. I thought, if I had never met Niall, I must have been with him. He is quite likable. He stays silent (well, most of the time) in class. He does not peep into other’s businesses. He is the type that would take care, sort of like Harry. He was eating very slowly. He was deep in thought. You could still see the tears in his eyes. Then I thought about Louis. They both must’ve had a long conversation last night about these things. I can see them as new besties.

After we finished our lunch, we started talking again. ‘So,’ Elise said to Zoey. ‘Do you like shopping?’ Zoey thought for a while and then said, ‘Not really, no. I’m not that type.’ ‘Great.’ Hannah said. ‘I also don’t like shopping.’ ‘Oh, I forgot.’ Zoey said taking out a box from her bag. ‘This is the remainder of my birthday cake. Me and Jake used most of it last night to fight with.’ She said grinning, handing the box over to me. I murmured a word of thanks and kept it in the fridge. Then we talked some more. Once you start talking with them, you realize how funny they are. But today, I felt a little empty without Jake’s jokes. Then Hannah nudged me. ‘It’s time to go.’ She said. I sprang to my feet. ‘C’mon guys, let’s go to the show!’ We all ran to my car.
