"Ughhhhhhhh!"
I yell into my pillow, my mom isn't home, I do it again. "AM I NOT GOOD ENOUGH?!" My face is burning, from the combination of being mad, and the fact that I just got in from the cold. I decide that I don't want to think about her, but I don't know how I can do that. I look around the room. Nothing good to do. Nothing worth while. I decide, that in life, sometimes, you just need to get over it. Just let it go. No. I can't. This feeling of jealousy, it's burning a hole in my stomach, and eating my insides. I hate this feeling. I can't just shrug it off, or brush it away. I need to talk, to Chloe. I don't know if it's a good idea, but I really want, and feel like I need, to talk to her. I get ready to go outside.
I grab my windbreaker off of the coat rack by my front door. I look towards my left, and see my hat hanging up, and I grab it, put it on my head, slip on my worn sneakers, and head out the door. When I get almost halfway down my driveway, I see my moms old minivan as she pulls in. She calls my name, and I see that she has my little brother in the back seat, she had taken him to see his dad. "Hi Tyler, um, what are you doing out on the cold with no coat on?! Go back inside and grab your coat."
"I was just going to Chloe's mom, no big deal."
"Well if it's no big deal, go get your coat. Once you have it on, you can go see your little 'girlfriend'."
I walked inside, grabbed my ugly, grey winter jacket. I slipped it on. When I got past the front window of my moms van, I said, "she's not my girlfriend!" And I mumbled under breath, "she has someone else." I think she may have heard me say it, because she started to say something afterwards. I headed over, regretting the idea. I was nervous, I didn't know what I was gonna say, or what she would do.
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* I'm knocking on her door, letting her know I'm there. It took a minute or two before I heard the *Creeeeak* of the door. It opened slowly. I was very scared at this point. After coming this far, there was no way I could step down, I had to talk to Chloe. However, I had no idea what to say. For now, I just had to wait to see Chloe's face as she opened the door. But it wasn't Chloe. It was her mom. "Oh, hi, is Chloe home?"
"I'm sorry, she isn't, she left with her dad just a bit ago. I don't think that they'll be coming back for at least am hour. Do you want to come in?"
"Uhh, no, thank you. I should be getting home, actually."
"Ohh, that's too bad, I just made some chocolate brownies. Would you at least take a couple for you and your family to eat?"
"Sure, no problemo, my brother likes brownies. So does my mom."
She went into her kitchen, and opened the oven, pulling out a plate of brownies. She went up to a cabinet and opened it, and pulled out two paper plates. She assorted a total of six brownies, meaning two for me, two for my mom, and two for my brother. She put the other plate on top of them, making sure the heat stays inside. "Are you sure you want to give us this much, I mean, six is a lot. Probably more than half of what you had." I said, making sure she really meant to give us six brownies. She said, "oh honey there's plenty more left over for my family. I made three batches, but thank you for your concern. Now hurry and get home, or they'll lose their heat." As I was walking away I said thanks. I was glad that I didn't half to face Chloe. I really wanted to talk to her, but I was too scared, what a coward I am.
(Hey guys, this is chapter number four. I think. I was going to make this chapter at least one thousand words long, but I've got a migraine. So. I think I'm gonna take a nap. I think that the premise of this book is going to be short and sweet anyways, so I'll try not to go over one thousand words for any of these chapters. And this book will consist of less than thirty chapters for sure.
