"Hey," I knocked lightly on Jace's dressing room door before entering through the open doorway.
"Hi." She glanced at me and then quickly turned around to watch the YouTube video playing on her phone. She sat in a directors chair at a makeup table that had a mirror rimmed with lights above it. Another large mirror covered the wall to her left and was placed just outside of the door to the bathroom. On the wall to her right was a rack of costumes and a shelf holding her dance bag, shoes, and a few other miscellaneous items like a jacket, water bottle, and a half eaten granola bar. On the makeup table in front of her sat two huge caboodles full of makeup and hair supplies.
"Second show tonight. You excited?"
She fist pumped in the air and I chuckled lightly. "I'm pumped!"
"Whatcha doing?" I strolled in closer and pulled up a directors chair next to her.
"Watching stage makeup tutorials to wear to tonight's show."
"Can I watch one with you?" I bit my bottom lip as soon as the words left my mouth. I wasn't interested in watch tutorials on how to do stage makeup! Why did I say that?
She looked at me surprised, but nodded and we both leaned in together to view her phone screen.

"That did not look that hard Jace."
"Liam! Oh my God it is super hard! She just made it look easy because she knew what the hell she was doing."
I shook my head.
"How much time do we have before the show?" She asked.
I glanced at my watch. "About three hours till soundcheck."
She smirked and opened her makeup chests. "Then if it's so easy you do it."
I stared at the humongous piles of makeup products emitting from each one. "Fine I will! Sit down."
I stood up and restarted the tutorial, ready to grab the brushes and makeup needed.
"Oh no!" She paused the video again. "Not on my face! If something goes wrong I'm screwed. We'll have a contest and whoever can do their stage makeup better has to say that the other is an attractive sexy beast on stage in to a microphone to the entire crowd. Deal?"
Do makeup? On my own face? Was I insane? Yes. "You're on!"
The video started and we both crowded around the lightbulb rimmed mirrors and grasped for the makeup.
"How the hell do you make it blend in?" I shouted, getting frustrated that Jace's concealer was making the bags under her eyes disappear and only made mine more pronounced.
"Hurry up I need that brush!" I gave up and tossed her the brush as the video moved on.
"Do we have MAC New York eyeshadow pallet like she has?"
"It's in the green one," Jace giggled, grabbing a different, but similar color eyeshadow than me and gesturing toward the green makeup caboodle.
"This is not blending into my crease like it is on hers," I motioned the small eyeshadow brush towards the girl on the video and then looked into a mirror. I jerked back seeing that I was one step away from looking like a demented, goth clown. All I needed was the red nose.
"You used to much black! That's a heavy pigmented eyeshadow Liam! Oh God were going to need a lot of remover for you. But first!" She held out a black pencil in one hand and what looked like a very very very thin black marker. "Eyeliner time! Pencil or liquid?"
