When I awoke the next morning I was sprawled out all over my bunk. The girl I had shared it with the night before was gone. I was trying to figure out what had woken me when a shout came through sharp morning air. Still at the same arena as last night before we took our flight to America today, the buses were stuck in their semi-circle and you could easily hear the noises coming from the others. The shouts grew louder and soon we were all up and scrambling to put on clothes as we tried to listen to the argument.
"You dirty little whore!!" A voice so cold that it could only belong to Madison screamed.
"I didn't do anything!!"
"You slept with him!!"
"Nothing happened-"
"You fucking little bastard!! He doesn't love you! Nobody does!"
"I never said he did!" The other voice was hardly elegant and was a little awkward, yet confident. It was Jacelyn.
"YOU'RE A BITCH!! HES MINE!!"
Then a scream so horrifying that we burst from the bus half dressed and ran into the middle of the open space between the parked vehicles. The crew, their bus being parked on the other side of the dancer's, ran out as well, surely hearing the same argument we had.
Jace burst through the door of her bus and ran as fast as she could away from it with a long bleeding scratch across her collar bone and shoulder. Madison started to follow her but stopped once she saw all of us.
"What the hell did you do?!" Zayn screamed as Jace ran to him. He glared at Madison who's eyes were big and darted back and forth as she realized what she had done. "Lemme see babe," he said calmly as we crowded her. She was crying and scared and hysterical. Preston and Paul came over as well to make it seem as if she had even more protection.
"I-I..." Maddi still stood in the doorway, finally looking sorry and mortified. "I'm sorry I.. I don't know what came over me..."
"What did you do to her?!" Paul shouted.
"Nothing." Jace butted in before she could answer. "She didn't do anything. We were arguing and I fell on a bunk."
"Jacelyn I-"
"It's fine Maddi," she false giggled with tears in her eyes. "It's not your fault."
"It is, I-"
"I said it's not your fault. Let it go."
"Lets get this cleaned up Hun," Preston said calmly as he led her into the crew's bus. She stared straight at Madison as she walked. Not a glare, but as if to say 'don't tell'.
The minute Jace was gone, she looked at me with sorry eyes, and slammed the door to the bus, disappearing down the parking lot and into the roads to God knows where.
"What just happened?" Harry asked. He clutched his head and I had almost forgotten that most of us were severely hung over.
"Do you think... Do you think it was about me?" I stuttered. Suddenly I felt very guilty. Maybe if I hadn't asked for her to share my bunk last night, Jacelyn would be perfectly fine this morning. No one answered my question. No one even looked at me really. They didn't have to. It most certainly was.
I left the little group that had formed then and went inside the crew's bus to check on her. I felt so bad...
Jace was sitting on the counter of the kitchenette when I came in. Paul and Lou and Josh and Sandy were gathered around her.
"Ow," she said when Lou used a wash cloth to clean the scratch.
"Sorry. I don't want it to get infected." She dabbed on some neosporian and since it was to long to cover with band aids, called it clean and moved so she could get down from the counter.
