We played three nights in Miami before moving on to Atlanta. I was growing more and more anxious every hour that Jacelyn didn't get reassurance that we weren't having a baby. I found her one night on top of the bus, staring out at the stars after a show.
"What are you doing'?" I called, climbing up to join her.
"Thinking." This wasn't my Jacelyn. Jace didn't think, she did. There was no planning for her because she was just a spur of the moment kind of girl,
"About what?" I asked more hesitantly.
She paused and looked at me as I sat beside her. I noticed she had one hand on her stomach and bit my lip. "The organism that may or may not be inside my stomach."
It was silent besides her intake of air that was sharp as she prevented herself from becoming emotionally wrecked.
"You know Liam... I want to give it a good life. She or he deserves more than life on a bus or in a studio. When I was little all I had was my four brothers. I didn't get any girl time. I didn't learn how to do my hair or makeup or what happened to me as I grew or what kind of clothes to wear. The only thing we got to buy me was pants because I absolutely did not fit into Parker's old ones and he was the smallest. Even then I only got one pair for the whole winter. We couldn't afford more you know. I wore my brothers's hammy down tee shirts and their shoes which were three sizes to big and most of the time we froze during winter because we couldn't afford heating. You know we couldn't even afford coffee. It got to the point where we would get tea and reuse the tea bags just to have something warm to drink. I don't want him or her to have that life..."
I just held her. She leaned into me as I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and rocked us back and forth gently. "It won't," I whispered. "I'll make sure of it."
"I think," she wiped the stray tears from her cheeks. "I think if its born, then I'm gonna give it up for adoption."
"Jace..."

"IM BLEEDING!!" Jace screamed, running from the bus and into the paddock where everyone was sitting down for lunch. We all stopped and stared as she raced from the vehicle with her arms raised high in victory. "I AM BLEEDING FROM MY VAGINA THANK THE LORD MY UTERUS IS CLEAR FOR ANOTHER MONTH."
"Jacelyn!" Paul whined as we all grimaced. "I was eating a burrito. I don't want to hear that!"
"The world needs to hear my joy!" she cried, climbing onto the table and cupping her hands around her mouth as she yelled, "I, JACELYN RAE ROCK, AM ON HER PERIOD AND IVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER ABOUT IT."
Katherine stared at her in awe as I gripped Jacelyn's waist, pulling her off of the table as she giggled with glee. "I've never seen a girl happy to start her time of the month."
"Why are we talking about girl things so clearly?" Josh covered his ears. "I don't wanna hear this! Lalalalala!"
I laughed and pretended to be unphased if not a little grossed out. But in reality a huge tidal wave of relief washed over me.
I didn't have a child.
I didn't ruin the band.
I didn't ruin Jace.
Everything was going to be ok.
I promptly finished my meal, threw away the plate, and pulled her behind a bus discretely so we could celebrate. She giggled with giddiness and bounced up and down. "Liam we're saved! I can keep dancing and you don't have to worry and theres no more secrets and I didn't ruin the image of One Direction!"
