Abigail's POV

-

Devin and I quickly duck into the library, making sure they aren't here. We go toward the back and sit down against a shelf of books. I sling my bag off of my shoulder and search around to see if I can find anything else to read. Devin sits behind me quietly working on his I would suppose homework. I pull a book off of the shelf and begin to read. I find myself lost in the pages until I see dark figures hovering over us snickering.

"Well, well, well. Look what we have here," Ricky smirks looking down at us. I ignore him and out if the corner of my eyes I can see Dev shaking slightly.

"What are you freaks doing here?" Ricky smirks and I continue to ignore him. "Hey, emo faggots, I'm speaking to you."

I slam my book shut and glare at him. He kicks it out of my hands while his minions laugh. I grab my bag and start to get up but Ricky pushes me back down. My head slams onto the bottom shelf of the bookcase and it starts to throb.

"Don't touch her," Devin speaks nervously and Ryan stands in front of him.

"What's that fuck face?" Ryan sneers and Devin looks over at me. He kicks the things out of his lap and papers fly everywhere.

"Just leave us alone," I sigh and Ricky glares down at me. In one swift motion, he sweeps books off of the shelf and they come tumbling down at me. A corner of one hits me right in the forehead and it hurts like hell. He pulls me up by my hair and pushes me back down again. Hard.

"Don't tell me what to do, you fucking cunt," he growls and walks away, but not before Ryan kicks Devin in the stomach.

I run back over to Devin, who is now clutching his stomach.

"Are you okay?" I sigh and he nods in pain. I pull him up off of the ground and we walk out the doors of hell- excuse me school- and head home. The journey is longer than usual, as Devin is limping. As soon as we step through the doors, a strong smell of gasoline hits my nostrils. The door is slammed behind us and locked. I look up in terror and am faced with my worst enemy, Richard Olson. How the fuck did he get into our house? How does he know where we live? Fear and multiple questions run as through my mind and I tremble against Devin.

"What are you fucking doing here?" Devin spits and Ricky chuckles.

"As if you couldn't tell already, I've come to watch you two motherfuckers burn," he smirks and a shiver shoots down my spine. He pulls a lighter out of his pocket and flicks it on and off again, watching the flame dance before his eyes. He looks down at the trail of gasoline below his feet and I notice we are right in the middle. I try to run with everything in me, but my feet are locked in place. I glance over at my brother and by the pained expression on his face, I doubt he can mover either.

Ricky grins at us wickedly before striking the lighter one last time and brings it down to his feet. Flames jump up and dance quickly in our direction. I feel heat nearing my feet, burning more and more each second. I scream in out in pain and hear laughs coming from in front of me and soon the heat engulfs my entire body and I scream again, falling to the floor, and everything goes black.

My eyes snap open in fear and the evil person from my dreams is hovering over me. I scream and break away from him, running over to the corner of the room. I pull my knees into my chest and cry. Ricky climbs off of the bed and turns on the lamp beside it. He slowly walks over to me with a pained expression and lowers down to my level. He places his hand on my face softly and I flinch away.

"Shhhh shhh, I'm not gonna hurt you, I promise," he says with tear in his eyes. He pulls me into a hug and I sob into his shoulder.

"Why do I have to be so fucked up?" I cry.

"You're not fucked up baby, you just need to be fixed again," he replies softly, looking into my eyes. He picks me up bridal style and carries me back to the bed. He sits me down gently and climbs in beside me.

"Do you want to talk about what happened in your dream?" He whispers and I hesitate before nodding. I tell him about what he and Ryan said and did. Then, how he set the house on fire with Devin and I inside. He looks at me slightly hurt before pulling me into a hug. When he breaks away, he grabs my hands and looks into my eyes.

"Abigail, I may not be the nicest guy in the world, but I want you to know that I promise to never, ever, hurt you again. I love you to the ends of the earth and it kills me to see you like this," he says, not breaking eye contact as he rubs circles on my palms with his thumbs. I smile at him and wrap my arms around his neck as his lips touch mine. We curl back into bed and drift off not long after.
