Kara's POV
Wednesday morning I woke to the peaceful sound of birds chirping and the mouth watering scent of a big delicious breakfast.
Wait, no thats wrong.
I woke to the blaring sound of my alarm clock just like every other morning and the smell of burning food which was new one.
I quickly jumped from my bed and raced into the kitchen to see what was going on. When I got there, I didn't know whether to laugh or to help.
In the kitchen stood my older brother trying to wave out all the smoke coming from the pan on the stove.
Something about my brother is that he cannot cook at all. He burns everything he tries to cook no matter what it is.
Its weird since my mother and father are great cooks and I am a good cook, not the best but good. Then you have my brother who can't even make a bowl of cereal.
"Ethan, do you need some help?" I asked trying to hold back a laugh.
He turned to me and sighed in defeat. He nodded and took a step back. I walked over and quickly got rid of the burning food and made more.
"I was just trying to make some breakfast." I heard Ethan mumble from behind me.
I just smiled and kept on cooking.

After eating my wonderfully made breakfast and getting ready for school, I had to leave. I gave my brother a quick hug before I left. I was about out the door when I remembered something.
"Oh Ethan, after school I am going to Max's house to work on our project so don't worry if I am not home right after school. Ok bye!"
I hurried to my car and got in before my brother had a chance to explode and give me some sort of lecture about going to Max's house.
I saw the front door open so I quickly put my car in reverse and I was out of there and on my way to school.
___
It was lunchtime and I had my food in hand. I was walking to my lunch table when I heard someone call out my name.
I turned and saw Max walking towards me. I gave him a big smile as he walked up to me.
"Hey. Are we still going to work at my house after school?" He asked once he reached me.
"Yeah we are. Well, if its alright with you." I responded.
"Why yes it is. Ok well I will see you later then." He waved goodbye and then he left.
I watched his retreating figure for a moment before I turned back around and headed to the lunch table.
When I arrived at the table, I was welcomed with the raised eyebrows and crossed arms of Jessica and Taylor.
What a warm welcoming.
"What's with the looks?" I asked as I took a seat.
They looked at each other and then back at me. The looks on the faces did not once leave and it was quite awkward.
"Seriously, what's with the glares?" I asked getting slightly irritated.
Jessica was the first one to speak. "I'm surprised you are sitting here. Why are you not sitting with your boyfriend and his emo friends?"
