Kara's POV
"Its easy, Kara. Like I said, step one is the easiest. Just put both of your feet on the board and gain balance." Jace explained to me once more after I lost my balance and fell off the board for the millionth time since we got here.
I fell of the board once again and landed on my butt. Groaning, I stood up again. This is stupid, I can't even do the first step.
"Kara, glaring at the board won't do anything. Just try it one more time." Jace said with a light chuckle.
Doing what he said, I got up and stood on his new skateboard just like before. This time was different though, I actually kept my balance.
A bright smile formed on my face as I looked up at Jace. He smiled back at me and gave me two thumbs up.
"Now lets work on step two."
_______
Our skating lesson was cut short when it started to downpour. This wouldn't be so bad if I had brought my car, but sadly it currently sat in the school parking lot. The school was about a mile from the skate park so it wouldn't take too long to get back there if we ran. The only thing was if we didn't get out of the rain soon, we were both bound to get sick.
I couldn't get sick. That means I would have to miss school and if I do that would affect my grades! I couldn't let that happen! Gosh I am such a good girl.
I guess that Jace saw the panic and worry on my face because he spoke up. What he said to me didn't help with that much though.
"We will get sick if we go all the way back to the school. My house is right down the road so we can just hang out there until the rain stops." I in took a sharp breath of air. "That is if you want too." He added quickly.
Was that such a good idea? At the end of that though it started to rain even hard which made me quickly make up my mind.
Sighing, I spoke my answer."Ok lead the way." I reluctantly said.
I didn't want to get sick so that meant that this was my only option. It couldn't be that bad right? Right?
We started to run through the rain as fast as we could without falling flat on our faces. It wasn't long before we came to a huge house that I assumed to be Jace's.
I stood there on the covered porch of the massive house in shock. There was no way that this was Jace's house. He wasn't rich was he?
"Well no i'm not rich, my parents are." Jace must be a mind reader.
A chuckle came from behind me. "No, you just say everything out loud."
My face heated up in embarrassment and I am pretty sure they are bright red right now. He probably thinks I am some weird freak now!
"Nah, I don't think you are a freak. You are actually pretty cool."
My head snapped to Jace who happened to be laughing. I just need to stop thinking. Then maybe I won't embarrass myself anymore.
Jace calmed his laughter after a few minutes and then he invited me inside his house. Before stepping inside I wondered if it would scream high class and boy was I right.
When you stepped inside your eyes met with a grand staircase and a gigantic chandelier hanging from above. Sound cliche right? My eyes still widened in awe at the amazing beauty though.
Sure my parents had money, but we surely didn't live in a mansion. We lived in a normal two story white house. Jace did not flaunt his parent richness like others at our school would.
