Grant's P.O.V

" Hey pass the chips man."

I was currently in the gameroom at my house, and as usual it's me and my girlfriend Caniene, my bro Leo and his girlfriend, Tracy, and My Beta (As I would have it)Cole.

"Get your own damn chips" I said, pausing the video game to get him the chips anyways.

"Ugh..I can't I'm so much weak..Have mercy on a poor old human like me."

One thing that Leo will never let go is the fact that he's usually the only human surrounded by werewolves. Tracy turns 18 in a couple of weeks and he can't wait to find out if they're mates or not, that way he can transition into one. I can't imagine the Elders not granting him that wish, it would literally destroy him.

"He's getting it, shut up already." I here Caniene say as I make my way down the stair into the kitchen."

On my way I hear my parents in a heated discussion, and I stopped to listen.

"She's been gone for five months now Louise, FIVE FREAKING MONTHS, and we can't find her, but do you think your son cares? I'm getting too old for this job, but do you think I can give the position of the alpha of the third strongest pack in America, to Grant and his slut?"

Yes, you heard right, Shayla's been missing for Five months, and although I don't care, my dad has been going through hell, and now, I know why- He wants to retire.

I do a little happy dance at hearing this, I've been wait to hear this since I've turned sixteen, the legal age at which one can become alpha, and 3 years later my dreams have finally come true.

"Sweetheart," says my mother in a comforting voice, " I thought everything would be in order if Grant rejected Shayla, the mating process isn't complete, and Grant found another mate."

I heard my father kiss my mother on her fore head, the only place he was allowed to kiss her ever since she caught him cheating. " I thought so too. Recently I sent the World Wide Board of Werewolves a letter about our situation, and apparently, because Shayla is pregnant with Grant's pups, she already bares his mark, because of that, not only is it illegal for Grant to get another mate, but her children will have the powers of the Alpha."

" What are we going to do now?" I could imagine my mother creasing her forehead, a habit my father adored about her.

" It's time for me to retire, Louise. We need some time to fix our relationship. How am I supposed to trust Grant as an Alpha if he can't won't even comply with his mate? If he really wanted to prove he's responsible, he would be out there looking for her."

I silently walked away, already hearing enough of the conversation.

If being with Shayla means that I'll become Alpha, I'll do everything in my power to bring her back to where she and my pups belong.
