" If you want your babies to be born alive and well ,then I suggest you start cleaning up your nasty eating habits." I winced at the words my doctor, Dr. Vera , told me. If it were anybody else I would have told them off, but over the past five months, this woman has become a mother to me.
" I have no idea what you're talking about, Dr.Vera," I said shaking my head, " I barely eat junk ."
She gave me my files and helped me clean the jelly off of my round stomach. " You barely eat at all. Those children are starving, I suggest you start giving them food."
I shook my head, "They'll be fine,Dr. Vera, they've got alpha blood."
She rolled her eyes at me, " It's you I'm concerned with Shayla, babies want energy, especially Alpha babies, and whether you give it to them or not they'll take it. They're going to be born healthy, but are you going to let it be at the cost of your own life?"
I sighed, she always seems to make me feel like crap, " I won't let it get that far."
"I don't want this to be a premature birth, but at the rate your going ,those babies are probably dying to get out of there."
" They're fine" I lied.
Truth is, I've been getting hunger pangs every night, but no matter how hard I try to eat something, my appetite never seems to be there. The guilt of eating food that I didn't work for just bothers me too much.
" Shayla, let's go get lunch, my treat."
" Dr.Vera, as much as I would love to go, I'm going to apply for a job at the diner."
She held my hand and helped me waddle over to the front door, "We'll go over to the diner, and
eat lunch there while you fill out the forms.""I don't have enough money to pay you back, Dr.vera. "
She laughed, " Has that stopped me from buying you lunch before, and for the life of me can you please stop calling me Dr.Vera, I keep telling you that to you, Clara, is that so much to much of me to ask of you?"
I scrunched my eyebrows together, a habit that I have picked up recently. " Okay, Clara, we'll leave as soon as you're ready."
She smiled, and mouthed ' I won' then childishly stuck out her tongue.
I giggled to myself at the antics this woman did on a daily basis. It's because of her that I do not regret leaving my pack.
It was a hard decision to make, but I can honestly say that my first week here will be one I will never forget.
this is how it played out-
Flashback
After a long drive half way across the nation, I can finally say that I don't completely regret what I've done.
It took some to to sort out, but after realizing that I will always be treated like luggage as long as I'm mated to Grant, it was easier to make the biggest decision of my life.
I left.
" Sigh,sometimes I wish I wasn't pregnant anymore." I said aloud to myself
Tranquility's gaze fell to my protruding stomach. " It won't be that bad. I mean, now you have to get used to the fact that you're going to be a single teenage mother of two children, and you have to hide from their murderous father, who plans to marry you and lock you in a basement where no one can find you; but other than that, I think everything is going to be fine."
Trae's heavy laughter could be hear from the backseat, I glared at my sarcastic friend, while"sarcastically" wishing she was dead.
Even now I don't regret taking Tranquility with me, she's been there from the beggining and I plan on making her stay through to the end.
"Oh lighten up," Trae said, " we're going to need as much laughter as we can get. We're a couple of kids who are thousands of miles away from home. We're broke, no parental guidance, but worst of all, there's a pregnant chick in the car."
He shuffled closer to the front and looked at me, " Now, I'm not going to point any fingers, but it's a small car, so whoever just delted it needs to speak up. I'm sure Trans here has no problem with pulling over so that the fumes will be passed out somewhere else."
I glared at him," Blaming the pregnant chick, how original."
Quil looked at us sheepishly,"Actually, I'll take the blame for that last one."
Trae and I groaned in frustration.
Quil rolled her eyes, "It's not my fault, we should've never stopped to get that three bean taco for breakfast this morning, besides, it's not that bad."
The smell, or my life?

Tranquility and I called the gang as soon as we got of the car. " Chicas, are you guys okay? I'm so glad you made it." I heard Anne say.
"Ugh, you and I both, a minute more in that car, and I think I would've given birth then and there." I said
"Well, If everything goes well, we'll be able to visit by the time you pop those suckers out." I heard Nicole say through the phone.
"I'll call as often as I can." I hung up.
"Sooo, what now?" Trae said. He and Quil turned to look at me.
"A friend of my dad is going to pick us up. A car rental representative is going to be here to get the car."
Quil looked at me skeptically " Won't Grant be able to track us down through the car rental place?"
"We thought about that, which is why we've stoped here, a friend of.my dad is going to pick us up any minute now.
Just then we heard the rumbling of a car near to us. A few feet away stop a barely scrap of a Toyota pick up, and an enormously big of a man stepped out of out and frantically started waving.
" Hey! Are you the Lupus kids?"
Trae got both mine and his bags and Tranquillity got hers while walked over to him.
" Are you Mr.Walker?"
A booming laughter shot out of him, "Mr.Walker? Shaylar I seen you in diapers, Call me Uncle Isaac" he said in a deep southern voice.
Trae stuck out his hand "Hello Uncle Isaac, I'm Trae."
They shook hands, then Isaac held Trae by the shoulders, "Son, you got your mama's good looks."
I looked at him incredulously," You knew our mom?"
He smiled " She was a fine of a lady if I ever saw one," he shook his head sadly, "It's a damn shame what happened to her."
We all held of moment of silence while we proceeded to the car.
"How much longer until we get there? I kinda have to pee." Trans said speaking up.
Uncle Isaac pointed to the a bare spot in the forest "That's the closest you'll get to a latreen for the next 6 hours. We've got a long way ahead of us."
Her mouth hung open in shock. "What?"
He chuckled, "And if I were you, I'd try not to make any wolf -likish activities, these areas are crawlin with feral wolves, waitin for a pretty wolf heiny to come around and take a wizz."
Trae and I laughed when she said, "I'll hold it in."
And so began Our Journey
