Yvonnie
3 weeks later:
Monday

It's been 3 weeks since my baby brother—who I got to name Eric was born. He was released from the hospital last week. He's not a bad premature baby cause my mom was at the end of her 8th month, going into the 9th. So I guess that's good.

Anyways, graduation is less than a week away. We already got our caps and gowns and we took our pictures. Seniors were already out for graduation but we still had to go to school for graduation practice.

"Giana Lacer, Jarvis Landry, then Kalissa Latimore." The principal, Mr.Edwards said. They all got up and lined up in that order and walked in the line with the rest of us.

Once Mr.Edwards finished lining everyone up by their last names, he gave us our next instructions, "Now you guys will go by the stage in that same order. Someone will call your first and last name, then you will walk across the stage to receive your diploma. With your right hand, shake the dignitaries hand, After that, you go around and walk off the stage, going back to your assigned seat. Any questions?"

Kalissa raised her hand, "What if I trip and fall and everyone sees me?"

I turned around to show her the stupid ass facial expression I had on my face. What kind of question is that?

"Try not to fall." Was all Mr.Edwards said. "Anymore questions?" He looked around, no one else had any questions. "Alright, you're all dismissed."

We all walked out. Odell grabbed my hand and asked, "Can I see my baby brother in law?" I just love how he says in law like we're married.

"Yeah, I was just going by my parents house to see him." I laughed. Giana, Jarvis, and Victor walked over with us.

"I wanna see him too!" Giana tagged along.

"Alright, but y'all driving in y'all own cars. Y'all ready?" I looked at them both. They nodded in reply.

We all walked out and went in our own cars. I pulled out, then Giana, then Odell. Hope they can keep up.

--

I parked by the mailbox at my parents home while Odell parked in the second driveway spot. Giana parked right behind me. We all got out the same time and went to the door. I pressed the doorbell and we stood there and waited.

My dad opened the door. Just taking in his appearance, you could tell he was tired.

"Hey dad. We came to see Eric. Can we come in?" I asked, the others waved and smiled.

"Yeah," He yawned and opened the door for us to come in. "Your mother's upstairs with him."

We all went upstairs in my parents room to see my mom breastfeeding Eric.

"Oh shit." Odell covered his eyes and walked out the room. "Sorry!"

"It's okay Odell." My mom giggled. "He's finishing up anyways."

2 minutes later Eric was finished. My mom wrapped her pink robe around her and chuckled, "Odell you can come back inside now!"

Odell slowly walked inside and uncovered his eyes. Giana and I laughed at him.

"How was graduation practice?" My mom asked, carefully laying Eric back on the bed to change his diaper.

"It was good. We all have to meet up at iHop on Thursday for the graduation breakfast then Friday evening is the big night." I looked at Giana and Odell and smiled.

"Awww my baby is growing up." My mom sniffled a bit. She buttoned Eric's onesie then picked him up carefully. "Who wants to hold him?"

"Me!" We all yelled in unison.

"First go wash your hands." She said pointing to the bathroom. We all raced to the bathroom and grabbed the soap bottle. We soaped up our hands then rinsed them off.

"I'm back!" Giana ran to my mom and Eric. Odell and I sighed and watched my mom gently rest Eric in her arms.

Soon enough he started fussing. Odell stood next to her and scoffed, "See, he doesn't like you. Let me have him."

Giana rolled her eyes and handed Eric to Odell. Odell smiled and touched Eric's hand. "Hey little man."

Eric cried his eyes out. I kissed my teeth in annoyance, "Gimme my baby brother!" I picked up Eric out of Odell's arms.

After that, Eric stopped crying. A smile went across my face in satisfaction. Aha.

"That's only cause you're his big sister." Giana snarled with an eye roll.

"Right." Odell agreed.

I sniffed the air then looked at them both, "Hm...I smell jealousy." I smirked and rocked Eric side to side.

"Mm..." Giana folded her arms and watched me play around with Eric.

--

3 hours passed with my parents and Eric and we all decided to go home. I got a text from Aunt Selena saying I have mail so I definitely can't wait to go home.

--

"Mom...Dad...I'm home." I walked inside and closed the door. Auntie Selena came over with Uncle Darryl with an envelope in her hand.

"Here you go darling." She passed me the envelope. I looked down to see where it was from...University of South Florida. It's either my acceptance or rejection letter.

I hesitantly tore the envelope open. My hand was trembling, I was anxious. I pulled the letter out, unfolded it, and began to read:

"Dear Yvonnie,

On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of the University of South Florida, I am pleased to offer you admission to USF's class of 2020, beginning of fall 2016. Based on your academic record, you have demonstrated the potential to be successful at one of Florida's leading universities. Congratulations to you and your family."

I screamed and jumped up and down. I attacked my aunt and uncle with a hug. I even started crying. I always wanted to go to USF.

"Congratulations Vonnie." My uncle congratulated me. I sniffled and thanked him. I can't believe it.

After screaming and crying for like 5 whole minutes, I thought about something...

How the hell am I gonna tell Odell and Giana?
