Chapter 11: My best friend

Coda's P.O.V

I ran for about an hour after that incident with Zack's Girlfriend. I had tears streaming down my face and scratches covering my legs and arms from when I fell in a bush. Today was going very bad and I wish I never agreed to going out with Zack. He broke my heart and didn't even try to come after me.

I stopped running and started to walk. My phone started to ring when I past by my work place. It was my best friend Alex.

"H-hello?" I asked trying to sound calm but it failed.

"Coda? What's wrong?"

"N-nothing.." I said rubbing my newly formed tears away.

"Where are you? Im in town and I'm coming to get you. You seem upset"

"I'm by my work place.."

"Ok I'll be there in a bit okay?"

"O-okay.." I said.

I hung up the phone and sat on the curb crying my eyes out. The schools bad boy was truly bad. He was the worse. I can't believe I actually thought I had a chance with him.

I heard a car pull over and I felt a pair of warm arms that I missed wrap around me.

"Come on. Let's go to your house and we can talk about it, okay?" He said while rubbing my back.

He helped me up and gave me a real hug. I missed him so much. He had graduated high school last year and went to a college out of town. I met him when I was a Junior. I looked up at him and stared into his grey eyes. (Alex is the guy in the pic!) he had brown hair with grey eyes and a cute smile.

He opened the passenger car door and let me in. I made myself comfortable and buckled my seat belt. He did the same when he went to the drivers side. I leaned against the car door and looked out the window. We were driving for about 10 minutes before I arrived home.

Alex unlocked his car an I got out and quickly ran to my door wanting to get into bed to cry. Alex followed behind me slowly while rubbing the back of his head.

I slid down the door and held my knees to my chest and burying my face into my arms.

"Coda..how bad did he hurt you?" I heard Alex ask.

"How did you kn-"

"I can see it in your eyes. He hurt you badly." He sighed. "I'm not gonna let some jackass hurt my best friend like that." He sounded angry but he tried to keep calm.

"I just wanna be happy...ever since you left..things have gone to shit...first my dad dies...then my mom starts to drink...then we loose our old house...I have worked sooo hard to keep us under a roof.. And-"

I was cut off by Alex's arms around me.

"It's okay. I'm here now. Things will get better" he looked into my eyes. "Smile more. You look beautiful when you smile." He said with a small twinkle in his eye.

"Alex...Thank you.." I said hugging him tightly.
