Chapter 10

I sat there until it was light outside. Then I got up and traveled. It was freezing outside here so it was important to stay concealed from the wind.

I walked until my feet were about to fall of and then I sat next to a bush.

The raisins were really good so I took out two more and ate them too.

I got my water bottle out and tried to drink it but it wasn’t coming out. It was frozen! I was really thirsty too.

I knew that the Hunger Games would be hard but I didn’t it would be in the emotional way.

I had never seen snow before. I knew what it was I’ve just never seen it. Its too cold and wet and uncomfortable.

The shoes I had on were giving me blisters and they really hurt.

My whole body was starting to shut down. I lived in a poor part of district 5 and was used to starving, hurting, and being upset. This was to a much higher degree though.

I took my shoes off and touched the blisters. They burned so bad, I needed some leaves for them.

I got up and looked for some leaves. There was a scarcity of leaves because it was so cold. Finally, I found a evergreen tree but the leaves were too high. I decided to camp there and wait until a leaf fell.

I took a seat and waited for it to fall but instead I just got hungrier and hungrier. I needed protein. I needed to hunt. I don’t think I can hit an animal with a knife so I’m going to need to make a sling shot.

To do that I would need a Y shaped tree branch, rubber, and a knife.

I already had the knife and rubber so all I needed was a tree branch.

I Traveled for around 15 minutes until I found the perfect tree branch. I went back to my seat under the tree and dug to holes in the branch then I stuck the rubber through the holes and tied it. It wasn’t perfect but it was functional.

I didn’t fell like getting up so I sat there under the tree and I saw a squirrel run up the tree branch 20 minutes later.

I was the best at catching squirrels. I’ve been doing it ever since I was little when my dad left my mom. I got in the eye every time. I aimed, and shot and the squirrel fell to the ground.

I started a fire which was very risky since it was getting dark so I had a knife right next to me and cooked the squirrel. It was starting to get dark outside so I hurried and emptied have my water to put the fire out.

Every night they put on a screen that showed all of the people who died that day. I watched and Rode wasn’t on there yet so he must be hanging on. I fell asleep in a cozy bush.

When I awoke it was snowing, I tore of the leg from the squirrel and look out 2 raisins and ate that for breakfast.

I waited under the tree for a leaf to fall but there was no luck yet. I got up and walked around. Then I heard something.

“Need help with that?” came a voice.

I turned around and saw the girl from district 3.

“I heard you were giving Demetria a hard time so I thought I would give you one too.” She said very mysterious.

This was it. I was going to die. I just thought in my mind over and over again ‘I love you mom, I love you Rode.’

She threw a knife at me and it lodged into the side of my stomach.

I screamed and she ran towards me. She cut two large slits in my arm and my leg. At this point I was losing so much blood I was starting to go unconscious. She left me there thinking I was dead.
