Chapter 18
I walked to the car with Andia and Andrea. We met the mayor of District 5 at the square. He shook my had and congratulated me. Then we went behind the curtains of a huge stage where the chariots were. I peeked out the curtain and saw people already going in to see me be crowned by the president even though it was 3 hours away.
Tonight I wouldn't even think of going home until about 5 hours from now. Around 2 hours later everyone was making a big fus over me. Redoing my makeup, touching up my hair, and fixing my dress.
30 minutes later it was like a massacre. Everyone running around, Andia almost screaming. 30 after that Andrea was pushing me out of the curtain. The crowd was overwhelming. Everyone screaming for me to blow them a kiss. The total oposite of the chariot ride. The president told me to take a seat in a big throne behind his chair. I took it.
He gave a boring speech about how we were proud of our 26 victors. Then he came to me.
"And we would like to congragulate this victor!" He announced. He took a golden crown from a pillow and walked over to me. He put it on the top of my head.
"Lily Green!" He yelled.
I've never heard a louder noise in my life. People erupted with cheers. I smiled and waved and blew kisses. Then Andia took me to a downstairs party and took my crown so no one would steal it.
I walked in and everyone cheered. I heard people yell that they loved me, always liked me, and always knew I was going to win. Yea right, says who? I wanted to hurry up and go home. See my new home. I victors village. I never liked my home so I wouldn't even go back. I would go straight to the new one. My mom had told me they already got all my stuff in there.
People walked up to my table and said congratulations 100 times. I just ate my food and ignored them. Why would anybody congradulate somebody for killing people?
After the party people were waiting outside and I autographed around 1,000 papers. I sat in the car and that drove me to an airplane that would take me home.
I was so exited but still so upset. I needed Rode. I didn't care where I was going, I wanted him.
I took a few hours but we finally got there it must have been one in the morning.
I walked out of the plane and most people were in their houses sleeping but a few were outside their doorstep cheering.
I walked into victors village. It was beautiful. Two story houses with plants in the front. I few of them were lit up from the previous winners. There was one with a note that had my name on it. I put the key in that the driver of the cab gave me. When I went in, my mom and the whole prep team ditched me. They left me to go in myself.
I searched all of the rooms, looking at the buetiful furniture. There was a room at the top of the staircase and the door was shut. There was a note that said 'Your room' on it. I ran up there and opened the door. Rode was waiting for me.
