I walked into the school library and made my way towards the back shelves. I weaved in and out of several aisles, my eyes catching on several titles that looked interesting, but I knew I'd never read them. I always get too emotionally attached to fictional worlds.
"Hey." Calum called out to me as I walked towards the corner he was seated at.
"Hi."
I sat down on the bean bag next to the brown haired boy. He watched me plop down and immediately started talking.
"You know, today I was talking to Wren and she told me that her cousin, Julissa was messing around with some guy at a party, but she was really drunk. So she has no idea who the guy was or that it was a guy. And Wren said that she had some problems down there, you know, like her lady bits, and she went to go check it out at the doctors and it turns out she has an STD!"
He stopped for a second to catch his breath.
"And I think she already knew that people have been talking about it so and that's why she left me to present alone in class today. I was so pissed because we were supposed to split the presentation in half, so I only practiced my half. She didn't even tell me that she wouldn't come. I can't believe she skipped school just because now she knows that everyone already knew she was a slut."
I didn't say anything. I just nodded because that's how it works between us two, Calum and I. Me and Calum. When one of us talks, the other listens because we only talk when there's something to listen about. Except for today.
"Honestly, I don't want to say she deserves it but she does and I don't like her. Actually you know what I am gonna say that. She does deserve it. I can't stand seeing her ever since she spread those rumors about you I've wanted to see her go down but apparently it's illegal to kill."
I started to zone out after this because he started to recount that terrible period of time when Julissa would basically terrorize me.
Calum is usually going off about some people at school; he's always holding a grudge on someone or something. I started thinking about how everything works in the world. How everything that has ever happened has led up to me being here listening and Calum ranting in front of me.
"Khloe!" I looked back up at him, my eyes shot wide open because I realized that he noticed me not paying attention.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
Now it was my turn to talk.
