It was Valentine's day and you just found out: You were pregnant. With Kaldur's child. You were excited, but you didn't know how Kaldur was going to react. This wasn't planned, and it could go either ways. But then, it was Valentine's day and if you told him today, it could turn out to be the greatest Valentine's gift ever - or it could turn out the worst.
I can't avoid this forever . . . I'll have to tell him sometime anyway, so better now than never, right?
Just as you thought that, the door swung open. You walked up to Kaldur and wrapped your arms around him.
"Happy Valentine's day, [Y/N]," Kaldur kissed you on the forehead.
"Happy Valentine's," you said into his chest, voice coming out muffled.
Calder led you to the couch and sat you down. He reached into his pant pocket, and pulled out a seashell necklace.
"Kaldur, that's beautiful!" you gasped, tracing your finger along the intricate carvings on the seashell.
"I'm glad you like it," he smiled, gesturing for you to turn around so he could put it on for you.
"Where did you get it?" you asked as he clasped it firmly around your neck.
". . .I made it," he admitted.
"Thank you, Kaldur. I love it." To prove your point, you wrapped your arms around his neck to pull him down to kiss him. You broke off the kiss, grinning happily. "I have. . .Uh. . .A gift of sorts for you, too." As you said that, you felt your body grow tense and you felt coldness spread to the tips of your fingertips.
"What is it?"
"I. . ." you gulped, clenching your fist. I can't back down now. . . I have to tell him. "I'm pregnant," you stuttered out, squeezing your eyes shut as you waited his response.
At first, it was silent. You started growing worried. What if he doesn't want the baby? What if he's going to leave me? What if-
"[Y/N] that's-that's amazing!" Kaldur cried, wrapping his arms around you, hugging him to you. "I-I'm going to be a father. . .!"
A laugh escaped your throat, all nerves dissipated and was now replaced by pure happiness and excitement.
"I love you, [Y/N]."
"I love you too, Kal."
