*ALEX*

I had Brandon drive me home after spending much longer at the lake then planned. He insisted on spending the rest of the day with me but I told him to take things slow.

His truck pulled up into the drive way and he said “Are you sure you want to go home? You don’t want to lounge with me in the sun all day?”

“Tempting” I smiled “But I think I am going to catch up with my aunt and plus I want to go for a run…and, I want to take this really slow…you’re not my boyfriend, remember?”

He forced a frustrated smiled and said “For now…”

I laughed and said “yea exactly: for now, meaning your not as of this very moment”

“Well, you are going to come to the lake tomorrow, right?”

“Do you want me to?” I asked batting my eyelashes.

“Does a bear shit in the woods?”

I laughed, rolled my eyes and said “oh how romantic of you…but yea of course I’ll come”

He laughed too and said “Can I pick you up for the occasion?”

I smirked and said with mock frustration “If you must” but I then leaned in and kissed him on lips. I could feel his lips form into a smile as he kissed back.

I pulled away abruptly and said “I better go”

He pouted and said “Are you sure you are going to be busy even through the night?” and he winked.

I grinned as I began to climb out of his truck “Yes, and especially through the night”

Suddenly something began to buzz in my pocket. It was my cell phone.

I pulled my phone from my pocket and I glanced briefly at it and realized it was my ex-boyfriend Josh calling me from California. I silenced it immediately and brought my attention back to Brandon even though my nerves began to fill my core.

Brandon didn’t even notice or care about it as he said “Can I at least get one more kiss?”

How could I say no? I climbed back into his car and kissed him one more time. This time I smiled as I pulled away and I said “I’ll see you tomorrow for the lake trip then”

He nodded as I climbed back out and closed the door. I waved good bye as his car went back down the drive way.

Once I saw that his car was out of sight I ran back inside and straight to my room. While in mid-sprint I could feel my phone vibrating in my pocket again. I was starting to feel frustrated.

Once I closed my bedroom door behind me I pulled out my phone and saw that Josh was calling me AGAIN.

I began to pace my room with my phone held out in front of me as I watched it ring and ring and then finally fall silent.

I became so nervous all at once and suddenly wished I had someone to talk to. I needed advice and no one to ask.

Suddenly there was a knock at my door and the sound of it made me jump. I was so jittery now. I walked over to open the door and there stood Stephanie with a permanent look of disdain. I felt another rush of heat flood my face. She must already know about Brandon.
