Boy Meets Girl, Girl Loves Boy

On Sunday by 3 in the afternoon the river had risen 3 inches and everyone on that strip of the river was at home. Some were forced and others had already planned to leave. All that afternoon the lovebirds didn't say a word to each other because their phones were dead and their chargers got wet the night before. When they got new chargers on Sunday night they fell asleep before they could talk.

S: wanna meet me at the park? I have somethin I wanna tell you. IN PERSON.
T: yeah that's cool let me get shoes on
S: okay meet you in 10 I'm bringin Gab too
T: Gibby! Okay see yall in 10.

S: hey come to the park with me. We are meetin taryn too and I have somethin to tell yall IN PERSON.
G: okay! I'll be ready in 2 minutes. Meet me outside.
S: will do omw

"Okay you gathered us at the park. What's up? It's not like you to do this," Gabby, one of Shelbi's best friends that was basically a sister, said as her and taryn, another friend that was more if a sister, sat in the swings at the city park.
"Yeah I'm dying to know what you wanna tell us!" Taryn said wiggling her eyebrows and laughing.
"Well I wanted to tell you guys that my weekend was amazing. I asked yall to come but you couldnt, and yall should have!" Shelbi said barely containing her excitment.
"What made it so great? The suspension is killing me!" Gabby seemed just as excited as Shelbi
"Just say it!" Taryn practically yelled.
"I met a guy named Ryan on Saturday. We were almost inseparable by chance and choice. I literally ran into him and we started talking, then on bus to the river we sat together because the bus was crowded, on the river our families stayed together and we hung out all day, and in the evening his family came to our fire and we ate dinner together. We talked all day and he is amazing! We also stayed up until like four in the morning fishing and talking by the fire as it died and something happened," when she started talking he mouth wouldn't stop and everyone was practically drowning in excitement.
"What happened?" Both girls said in unison.
"He asked me out and I said yes. We talked for like 16 or 17 hours and know more about each other than my parents did on like their fourth date. also he gets his licence in a month and then I get mine in a few and we just clicked immediately and my dad gave the okay. He went and asked my dad If we could date then asked me out! He's so old fashioned and he is amazing." It was another case of word vomit and she was worried they wouldn't approve after she told them.
"Wow," was all taryn said in response.
"When do we meet him?" Gabby said practically bouncing in the swing.
"Well he's coming with his brother and sister this Thursday because they have some work to do in Tulsa. I was hoping they could spare some time and meet us three for lunch. I want yall to approve but even if you don't I don't think it would change much. Only because my dad likes him." She added the last part because of the upset faces of her two closest friends.
"I don't even know if this is gonna work but I like that you are happy so I'm willing to see where it goes but if this guy hurts you... you don't even know how bad it will be for him," as always Taryn couldn't help but be protective.
"I'm so glad yall reacted this way. Honestly I thought this was gonna go horrible." Relief filled her voice as they just talked for a few hours about random things.

R: Hey I just got my phone to charge with this new charger.
S: Hey I was at the park all day so I wouldn't have seen it if you had sent anything anyway
R: So I was wondering. When do you wanna go on our fist official date? Even though last night we basically went on a date.
S: I don't know what are you doin this weekend? We could go get pizza and see and movie at the drive in theater in tulsa.
R: That sounds great I don't have anything planned for this weekend so I'll see you Thursday then this weekend?
S: sounds great! See you then. We are about to eat dinner and our rule is no phones at the table. I'll text you tomorrow.
R: yes ma'am *salutes* talk to you tomorrow. Night sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite.
S: good night

"So how's everyone's day been? No one was home today. What were yall doin?" Leah said as they ate dinner together for once.
"Me and Jo were at the neighborhood park playin basketball it was fun." Jake said before anyone else.
"Me and Landon ran 5 miles and walked 3 today. It was hard but it'll get eaiser. We have to get ready for the air force." Morgan said next.
"Me alex and bly made pictures on the porch today! Did you see us, Mom?" Braelyn loudly told of her days events.
"Yeah I did! They are beautiful. Shelbi did you have fun with Gabby and Taryn at the park? What'd yall do?" She was really only interested in Shelbi's day knowing she was probably wanting to go to the park to talk about Ryan. She hated the public park.
"It was fine. We talked about random stuff and swung on the swings that's it," Shelbi said taking a quick bite so she wouldn't have to answer many questions.
"Oh. That's it? Okay. We are cleaning tomorrow so don't stay up too late tonight everyone.
"Yes ma'am!"Mike said coming in from the back of the house and saluting with a goofy grin.

S: Hey I have to go to sleep but I just wanted to let you know that I won't be able to talk much because we will be cleaning alot tomorrow.
R: That's fine. I can wait as long as I need to
S: okay I just didn't want you to worry If you texted and I didn't respond
R: glad you thought about me night beautiful.
S: goodnight Ryan

After that she couldn't stop smiling. Sleep was the only thing that made her face relax.
