28- Baby

"Okay so you are showing, kind of alot, now and I'm about to be almost done with my classes for senior year. Can I please know who the dad is?"
"Not yet. I'm telling him today. You will know today."
"Fine. We can do it after we have lunch with Daimen and Ryan."
"Okay."

"Hey, Dai! You've been so busy with work and stuff and I never get to see you!"
"I know I know. That's why we are having lunch today."
"What about me?"
"I see you like every other day. Daimen deserved the first hug and stuff. Chill."
"I'm chill. Where's Gab?"
"In the car on the phone with somebody."
"Oh okay. You know what she wants?"
"No idea. She can order when she gets in here."
"How is Gabby? I haven't seen here in a little while," Daimen said watching the door like a hawk.
"She's... fine. Why?"
"Just wonderin. We got kinda close when you two left us a bunch."
"Salty much? Geez. It wasn't even a whole month between both trips."
"I know. Here she comes. Why is she wearing a trench coat? The rain comes tonight not today."
"Hey guys. Daimen... I have some news."
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I-" She began then decided to just remove her coat and let that speak for her.
"What? Why didn't you tell me sooner? What are you gonna do? You're only 20."
"Really? That's your reaction. Don't you mean we? I've decided I'm going to keep it. I also don't wanna know the sex until birth. I've already started getting stuff though."
"What?" Shelbi nearly yelled before grabbing her arm and dragging her away. "Daimen? That's who it's been this whole time! I've seen him so many times and you didn't say anything! How did you keep that from me? How did I not figure it out on my own?"
"Calm down. I knew you'd do this. I really Daimen is my person. I just wasn't sure if that's how he felt about me and I didn't wanna lose him. I was scared! I'm alot better at keeping secrets than you think."
"Gabby we need to talk. Alone." Damien gestured to Shelbi.
"I'm not leaving. You two have to leave this spot."
"Fine. Daimen. Let's take this outside. The incoming rain made it nice outside."
"That's fine with me."
"I'm can't belive this." Ryan was watching Shelbi sit down and them walk out front and past the window wall.
"Me either. I don't know whether to be angry or excited or sad or what."
"Me either. They'll figure it out then we will know how to feel."
"Or we could just feel it all?"
"Yeah. Or that."

"Gabby... why? Why did you hide this? Why everything?"
"Everything?"
"Why did you sleep with me? Why do you care about me? Why are you keeping the baby? Why everything?"
"I didn't want you to change your mind about me... however it is you feel. So I didn't say anything until I couldn't hide it anymore. I care about you because you're amazing. Ever since I first met you I knew you were gonna be great. I didn't know if feel this way but I knew we'd get along and have fun together. I'm keeping the baby because it's my baby and I know that I'd never be able to give up this opportunity to... to teach another human how to human!  This is what I've wanted to do all my life and I'm not giving that up. Daimen... I think I've fallen. And if it isn't you then it's this baby. Either way. No matter what you say or choose. I've fallen hard. I was scared of your reaction. I didn't wa-"
"Gabby. That's enough. I don't need anymore explanation. I loved someone once. We were so in love it was like a movie. Then she got sick. Sick to the point that she spent her last year of life in the hospital. I neve thought I could get over her. Never thought I would find someone else. Until Shelbi and Ryan went on their trip. You just washed everything I ever worried about away. You freed me of that heartbreak. Then we slept together while they went to North Carolina and we just stopped talking for a while. I felt broken again. All that heartache rushed back in. I want to spend the rest of my days with you. Well I guess now I want to spend the rest of my days with you too. I know we didn't really get to go on dates but we did have alot of alone time and I think that's good enough for now. Please?"
"Well duh!" Gabby said tears streaming down her face.
"You don't ever have to hide things from me. You never did. I promise I will be by your side every step of the way."
"Thank you." They kissed for a few moments then spent time talking about the things she had bought already.
"Did you two forget about us? We had a nice lunch date without you guys and got your food to go, Daimen. Gabby you didn't even get a chance to order food so we didn't bother. With your cravings I have no idea what you want... ever."
"That's fine. I'm really hungry now and I think I want Braums."
"Let's go then. We will meet you guys later for the movie?" Daimen said getting the keys from Shelbi.
"What movie? Shelbi... you know I hate when you and Dai plan things without me."
"I know. Has that ever stopped us?"
"Never... I don't know why I even try anymore."
As Shelbi and Ryan walked toward Ryan's truck they heard the beginning of a fun car ride. "Daimen, I can drive my own car!"
"I'm your chauffeur now. You are gonna have to get over it!"

S: hey the movie is getting out later than we thought can I stay at Ry's tonight since it's closer and I don't have work in the morning?
S: PRETTY PLEASE
L: yeah that's fine. We will be out of the house tomorrow because the kids wanna see your aunt and the horses. Today is her birthday make sure to text her.
S: I will. Love you and see you tomorrow evening
L: love you too. Give Gabby a kiss for me. She's had to grow up so much since her momma died and now she's gonna be a momma. It's a little crazy now.
S: I didn't think she told you!
L: sweetheart I've had four of my own kids. She didn't have to. Goodnight
S: night mom love you

"Gabby can you stay the night as well?" Ryan asked.
"What?" She replied.
"He read over my shoulder!" Shelbi hit Ryan lightly in the chest. "Mom said I can stay with these two tonight. Are you gonna stay?"
"Yeah. Dad has been really distracted lately with the boys so he doesn't care what I do honestly."
"Cool. Are we just gonna go home and sleep or watch TV or games or what?" Daimen asked opening the car door for the girls.
"We don't care," They replied together then laughed.
"Okay. Ry? Games sleep or TV?"
"Up to you... actually no its not. It's up to Jack and Lindsay. They are at the house... probably having sex not gonna lie."
"Really? We already knew that you didn't have to say it!" Shelbi hit Ryan in the chest again.
"Ow! Babe, stop... or else!"
"Oh I'm scared now! I don't think you're gonna do anything about it." She said practically daring him to do something.
"Oh, you just wait. You'll see."
"Okay okay, get a room guys. We'll figure it out when we get there."

"Hey Jackie! Where you at?" Daimen yelled from the front door.
"Kitchen!"
"Hey we were wondering if we should play games watch TV, or just go to bed. All four of us are going to be here tonight and we decided it was up to you and Lindsay." Ryan was the first in the kitchen.
"We don't care all long all yall aren't loud upstairs. We are watching TV right now. Wait, all four? Who's the fourth person?"
"Me. Hey, Jackie. I haven't seen you in like 3 months."
"Oh my gosh! Gabby! You're pregnant? Whose is it?"
"Who do you think?" Daimen rolled his eyes at his oblivious sister.
"No way! Dai! I'm so proud of you! Yall have been cute together since day one! Oh congrats! Me and Lindsay are throwing your shower! Lindsay get your pretty little booty shorts down here!"
"Why do you assume I'm keeping it?"
"I know you Gabby. You are keeping it."
"I know I am."
"What is going on? Why do I hear yelling and slight squealing?"
"Gabby is pregnant! Look at that cute belly! We are throwing her shower!"
"Oh yay! Is it Daimen's? Please say yes!"
"It is it is. You two don't have to throw me a shower. I don't even want to know the sex until after the baby is born!"
"That's not gonna stop us!"
"Seriously you guys- oh my gosh! Daimen come here!"
"What what's wrong?" Daimen's face immediately dropped.
"Put your hand right here. Do you feel that?"
"No what is it? Oh wait! I feel it!"
"Guys! The baby is moving! I can feel it moving!"
As everyone started taking turns feeling the baby move Shelbi stood back and watched the excitement and happiness on Their faces. At that moment she swore she could see Gabby glowing brightly.
