13-The Room

"Hey! I was worried about you! I wanted to go get you but mom said the doctor wouldn't let you come back!" Jackie said as she met Shelbi in the doorway.
"It's fine. I'm okay how is he? How are mom and dad? And what about Brandon, Gavin, and Lindsay? I don't know anyone who can't live without him." Shelbi whispered. She was scared to walk any further.
"Lindsay, Gavin, and Brandon are on their way. They are actually riding together. He still hasn't woke up and he has cuts and bruises everywhere. He also broke his left arm and wrist so he has a cast."
"Other than that he's okay?" Shelbi asked and Jackie nodded. They walked in together and Shelbi hugged Ryan's parents and they let her sit next to the bed.

"Hey guys we're here. Just the three of us. Also we brought someone we thought you'd like to see." Brandon walked in with his arm around Gavin. Lindsay was behind them and holding something behind her.
"Hey guys. I brought... Momma. I figured... she could... make everyone... feel... better." Lindsay spoke between hiccups. It was obvious she and Gavin had been crying their eyes out.
"Oh, Lindsay! Put her on the bed." Jackie said hugging her beloved girlfriend.
"Mr. Renolds, you mustn't worry so much. Also, Ms. Kimball, thank you for bringing Ryan's cat and being so sweet all the time." Ryan's mom said to Gavin then Lindsay.
"Mrs. Crutchfield, I've told you to call me Gavin. I'll be okay I worry about everyone. How are you by the way?"
"I'm okay as long as he is."
"How are you?" Brandon whispered squatting down next to Shelbi's chair and rubbing Shelbi's leg.
"I'm better now that I'm not sleeping in the waiting room. What time is it?" She replied.
"Um 1:53 in the morning. Are you staying here tonight?"
"Yes. I'm not leaving until he wakes up. I refused to and yelled at Morgan. She said she is gonna bring me clothes after 6 which is dawn."
"Okay. I'll stay with you. You don't need to be alone right now."
"What's going on over here?" Gavin said trying to lighten the mood.
"Nothin much, Babe. C'mon let's leave her be for a bit."
"Okay. Wanna get some bad hospital coffee?"
"Sure. We'll be right back, okay?"
"Okay. I'll be here."

"Shelbi? C'mon wake up. I have clothes for you. It's 6:20 in the mornin' and I need to go to work. I'm actually gonna be late if I dont leave soon!" Morgan shook Shelbi who was laying her head on the edge of Ryan's bed.
"I'm up. Let me have them and I'll change love you bye." Shelbi replied half awake and slowly rising.
"I'm not leaving till you change."
"Okay!" Shelbi was more awake now and went to the bathroom. She put on the clothes and gave Morgan her dirty ones.
"Bye love you I'm off to work." Morgan took the clothes gave her sister a kiss and left. Shelbi huffed and sat back down to try and sleep some more.

"Shelbi. Girlie. Wake up the doctor is here." Brandon shook Shelbi awake.
"Time?" Was the first thing she said.
"8:40 am."
"Ugh. I'm up. What's goin on?"
"I'm Dr. Avary. We've met. I was Ryan's surgeon. I wanted to talk to you about Ryan's condition. The reason he's not waking up."
"Go ahead!" She said as she stood quickly trying to process the information.
"It looks like he has a slight brain bleed nothing that will kill him immediately. When he got in the wreck he hit his side window very hard and most likely has whiplash. We need to get him into surgery so we can fix that and he can wake up. Do you know when his parents will be back?"
"They won't be. Not for at least a couple days. We are the closest things to family he has here. His mom got sick yesterday."
"Okay I need you to fill out some forms. Then we can take him back and you will have to go to the waiting room again. Okay?"
"Whatever it takes."

She filled out every paper until her hand hurt and was cramping up. They took Ryan back into the double doors Dr. Avery first came out of. She told everyone what was going on and all of her family showed up. She hadn't been lying about his parents. His mom really was sick and his dad was taking care of her. Damien and Jackie were actually sleeping for a bit. Shelbi worried and prayed the whole time he was in surgery but liked and trusted Dr. Avary. She had a gut feeling he'd be fine.

"Okay. We are done. It took four hours to fix it. He still will not wake up for about a week due to the operation he just had. We will get him up again. When he wakes I assume you will be there?"
"Yes I will be. You'll be seeing alot of me. I'm not going anywhere until he wakes."
"Okay. If you notice anything strange when he wakes ring for the nurses right away and they will page me. Got it?"
"Yes. I will watch him when he wakes."
"Okay walk with me I'll show you his room.
