Victoire's PoVMy mom shook me awake. "It's 10. Your brother made eggs." I groggily got up and walked downstairs. Andrew was at the stove flipping eggs. I got a mug out of the cupboard and made a cup of tea. I held out my plate for Andrew to put an egg on. "Thank you." I sat down at the table across from Mom. Dad was reading the newspaper and sipping on a cup of coffee.
"Andrew has a meeting today. We're gonna head out in about an hour," Dad said.
Mom turned to me. "Wanna go shopping?" I nodded vigorously. Andrew sat down beside Dad and ate his egg.
"What's you meeting about?" I asked, stuffing bites of egg and toast into my mouth.
"You couldn't wait to swallow?" He asked. I shrugged. "It's for my drama club. We need to decide on a date for our play."
"You should try to get it in between February 12 and 21. That's when I'll be home."
"We'll see."
Once I finished eating I got a shower. I would soon have to pack up all of my luggage again to head to New York. That reminded me, I needed to pick up a blue dress when I went shopping with Mom. I got dressed and then met up with Mom downstairs. We drove to the mall and ran into the complex to get out of the cold. We entered a small boutique and I went to the dresses.
"Watcha looking for, sweetheart?" Mom asked.
"I need a blue dress for New York. It needs to be pretty but not too cold."We got a few dresses and I went to try them on. I finally settled on a short dress with blue lace sleeves. Mom and I looked around the store some more and she settled on a red shirt and a new black skirt that she could wear to work.
When we got home from shopping, I was beat. I threw myself on the couch and turned on Food Network. When Andrew got home he went straight for the kitchen.
"What are you doing?" I yelled from the couch.
"Baking."I returned to my show, pulled away only when Andrew yelled for everyone to come try what he made. We all tried one of his cupcakes and complimented them graciously. I then retired to bed.

The airport was crowded, to say the least. Everyone was trying to get to someone they loved for New Years. Families reunited. Lovers met once more. Friends gathered together. It was a beautiful sight, just not for someone who's flight was about to leave them. My family rushed to get to my plane. But, we made it. I hugged my family and then rushed to get on my flight. Almost all of the seats were filled, so it was a miracle that I even found a seat. I sat down beside a girl about my age.
"Hi, my name's Amanda," the girl said.
"Victoire," I responded, shaking her hand.
"This might sound weird, but do you by any chance know Pentatonix?"
"Yep, I'm their intern.""I thought you looked familiar!"
We talked until the plane started up. It was just like every other plane I'd been on.
Terrifying.
I tried to play it cool, but without the reassurance of Esther or Avi, I was petrified. My heart sped up and my vision started to blur. "Are you okay?" Amanda asked. I nodded. I felt her place her hand on my back. "It's okay, I was terrified of flying, too. Took me ages to get over it.
We eventually got into the air and I relaxed. I was having a good time until we landed. Then, the same process repeated and I thought I was going to pass out. Once we landed, I took in large breaths and exited to plane. I found my bag and then went into the main area. I looked around for someone I knew, but, alas, no one.
I texted the group chat and found out that Mitch, Scott, and Kirstie's flight had been delayed and Avi and Esther's wasn't due for another two hours. I sighed and walked around the terminal. I eventually found a Starbucks and bought a coffee.
What a great entrance into New York.
After about an hour of aimlessly walking around I was rather lost. I wouldn't be able to find them even if they were here. We're landing - Scott. I decided to just sit down and wait to be found. There was a nice waiting area near where I was. I felt my phone buzz and saw I was getting a call from Scott.
"Where are you?" he asked."I have no idea. I'm lost."
There was a hint of worry in his voice. "Can you describe where you are?"
"Well, there are three couches and there's a fountain behind me."
I heard muffled voices. He was telling Mitch and Kirstie. "Stay where you are. We'll find you as soon as we can."
He hung up the phone and I did as he asked. A few people started giving me suspicious looks. I smiled widely at them and they would pick up their pace."There she is!" Kirstie yelled. Scott ran over to me and I ran over to him. He wrapped his arms around me.
"You scared us so much," he cried."I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault."
He let go of me and I ran into Kirstie's arms. Then, Mitch's.
He threw his hand to his chest. "Don't scare Mommy like that."
We all laughed and then found our way out of the airport. There was a car waiting for the four of us. The car pulled into a fancy hotel and we lugged our bags up to the front desk.
Scott talked to the man working at the front desk. "Hi, 4 rooms for Hoying.""I'm sorry, that name's not ringing up in my system. Could it be under anything else?" the man asked while typing on the keyboard.
"Can you try Kaplan?"
He paused and typed more on the computer. "Nope. Sorry, sir. But, I can check if we have any rooms available.""Thank you."
"It looks like we have had two last minute cancellations. One is a single King and the other is two Queens."
Scott rubbed the bridge of his nose and agreed. The man handed us our keys and we walked to the lobby. "Who gets the one bed?" Scott asked.
"Esther, Victoire, and I can take it," Kirstie volunteered."It'll be tight, but hopefully it will work for two nights," Mitch added.
Scott handed us our key and we headed our separate ways. The guys were on the second floor and we were on the fifth. Kirstie unlocked our room and we walked in. Thankfully, there was a couch.
"We'll decide who gets the couch tonight," Kirstie said. "Esther should be here soon."
Right on cue, Esther burst into the room looking terrifyingly mad.
"I know I booked those rooms. I booked them months ago so we could get rooms close to each other."
"It'll be okay, Esther. There's a couch and it's only for two nights," Kirstie replied. She took a deep breath and stood up. "The guys are in the lobby waiting for us."
We walked down to the lobby and found the guys. Kevin got us a couple cabs and we went out to dinner. When we got back Esther, Kirstie and I returned to our small room. "Who wants the couch?" Kirstie asked.
Esther volunteered for the couch and Kirstie and I crawled into the bed, slowly falling asleep.
